the movie is not the Series. Only the facts have been changed, to irritate the innocent; the names of the actors and characters remain the same

Once upon a time I had a region 1 set, preordered from Amazon so, among the first shipped. I loaned that one out 'til it got abused, then ordered another for myself. Thing is, I remember an episode commentary featuring much of the cast. Well, my new set doesn't have it. It has the following commentaries:
Pilot: Joss & Nathan
Train Job: Joss & Tim
Shindig: Morena, Jane Espenson (writer), & the woman who did costumes
Outa Gas: Tim & director
War Stories: Alan & Nathan
Message: Alan & Jewel
Objects in Space: Joss

Did I imagine another commentary from cast? Scary thought, 'cause my recollection is quite detailed.

I have the Region 1 and it has the same commentarys. Checked from DVD Profiler, that the R1 has an easter egg (a rendition of "Hero of Canton" sung by Adam Baldwin (Jayne)), so i dont think there was a hidden one either on the R1 set.

If there IS a full cast commentary out there in the ether somewhere, someone needs to find it and get it on this site STAT!

On the other hand, if there isn't, I'm sure we'll get one on the Serenity DVD.

Full cast commentary on the BDM? Heaven baby.

And how do you access the Hero of Canton? I've seen some directions, but don't understand them (found on Can't take the sky).

4th DVD, go to special features and put the "cursor" on the "Joss sings firefly theme" (or something like that), then press left (The "cursor" should dissappear) and press "enter".

I was pretty bumed out that there wasn't any commentary in "Our Mrs. Reynolds". That would have been hilarious.

Perhaps you were thinking of one of the extras, like 'the making of firefly'? Those have lots of the cast giving some comments...

Jayne, your mouth is talkin. Might want to look into that.

I think this calls for a special edition DVD of the series, with commentary on every episode. There will be a market for it. I've bought five copies of the current edition, and the producers have my personal guarantee that, if they make it, I will preorder @least two copies.

How say you all? (Joss?)

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

I agree with YT, and I would buy a Special Edition Firefly set. I would want there to be multiple commentaries for various episodes. For example, keep the Nathan/Alan one already done for "War Stories," but add an Alan/Gina commentary as well. And how about a Sean/Summer/Adam commentary for "Ariel"? Also, each ep should have a commentary with the writer and director, along with one by Adam and Ron.

Nah... add full cast+Joss commentaries to all the eps. I'd buy that one as well.

I concur. From a practical standpoint, the special edition would have to include everything on the existing edition, but it would be good to have informative commentary on those episodes currently annotated by Alan Tukyk.

And I'd love to have commentary from Adam Baldwin but, only if he wanted to do it. If the producer decided that everyone on the cast had to do a commentary, we could end up with something less than if each episode were annotated by those who most wanted to do it.

I think my ideal would be three commentaries for each ep: 1=Joss, 2=writer (perhaps with director -- if Joss did both, we can skip #2), 3=one or more cast members. Plus, shooting scripts.

And, of course, in the DVD-ROM special features, a link to Haken's (this) site.

If you haven't gotten it yet, put in special features, highlight "Joss sings", instead of hitting enter press left arrow button, this will highlight graphic at top of the screen, press enter.

LUNATIKAT

I've bought four sets of the original compilation (one to own and never loan, one to loan and two to give as gifts) and would happily do the same or more for a "Special Edition" set. I agree, multiple commentaries for EVERY episode, director's commentary, writer's commentary, principal cast members of that episode commentaries. Screen tests of all the cast, and: isn't anybody else interested in who the heck they thought would be Inara before Morena Baccarin came on board? (If anyone knows and can tell me now, I'm dying to know!) Oh, yeah, the complete long gag reel too. Include some of the lovely Internet fan art, some filk, oh now I'm just babbling.

In the special features (making of, I think), one of the producers identifies her as Rebecca Gayheart (rather uncharitable of him, I thought). And Joss (who did not identify her, and perhaps didn't know she was identified elsewhere) was apparently so dissatisfied with her that he framed almost all her shots as singles, so that only Jewel had to redo more than one shot when Morena was hired.

Now, for your Double Jeopardy question, who was the actor originally hired to portray Aragorn?

I don't think that the original casting of Rebecca Gayheart was any big secret, so I'm not sure why you think that it was a problem that she was mentioned by name. Also, I thought that whenever she was mentioned, great pains were taken to say that the chemistry just wasn't right. I think back to the original casting of Genevieve Bujold as the Janeway character in Voyager. Good actress, just not quite right.

Who is Stewart Townsend? AKA Charlize Theron's squeeze.

Wow, and phrased as a question, too. That calls for a Gold Star, AND an "O" for Outstanding.
