Hey Browncoats,

I'm kinda new here, but I've been thinking and, it's very possible Serenity's soundtrack could be like Spiderman's (you know, with songs instead of score) So I got to thinking of songs that would fit well on the soundtrack should they make one, and came up with some ideas. I'd like to hear everybody's thoughts too. Here are mine:

1. Sonny Rhodes - Ballad of Serenity (of course)
2. Dido- Life for Rent
3. Muse - Time is Running Out
4. Train - Ordinary (hey I think it sounds good)
5. Evanescence- My Last Breath
6. Lost Prophets - Wake Up

Just a few thoughts...just don't kill me guys. I'd prefer a full orchestra directed by Greg Edmondson. But in case they go all Spiderman on us...these are some ideas that i think would work. I'll post more when they come to mind. Thanks guys.

There is a vague (but I doubt it) possibility of a non-score soundtrack - the last SF movie that had that was Titan:AE I think (excluding Matrix and maybe, as I don't know, Riddick) - which I'm sure Joss would rather avoid comparisons with.

As to your choices:

1. Shame on me, never heard.
2. Ugh. Roswell much?
3. Hmmm - bit of Muse never goes amiss; quite reaver-y too
4. Ugh. And I speak as a misguided fan. If we have to have a track on there, Meet Virginia from their (I think) first album, which links a little to River.
5. Much as I like the band, and Amy Lee's vocals, can't see it fitting the movie.
6. Again, nothing wrong with LP, just doesn't really fit the movie I think.

If they have any songs, I'd like to see something like Gabriel by Lamb.

Yeah, I agree with you...I was just thinking of songs that I thought would fit. The Dido song isn't from Roswell (which is a show I never really got into), it's got this really nice acoustic feel to it that I think would fit very well...but thats me. The Lamb song is a good idea though.

I think that some Nine Inch Nails would be pretty good. I was thinking 'The Mark Has Been Made' for whenever we first see a Reaver ship. But I also think that some Incubus would be good.

Really don't like the new Dido album, though oddly when I have seen her live performances of the tracks, they work better - just seem to have some emotion to them, as opposed to the anodine, over-produced singles I have heard to date.

Am I online in hoping it'll (it=soundtrack) be similar to the tv-series? I think it's nice for a film that's being pitched (From 'Versal site) as an "action" film to have a written score specially composed for the film with it's own thematic style, the whole eastern meets west music.

Besides that, I can't really think of a genre of music that you could fit into the tv-series or film besides either acoustic-blues (a la Theme song) or Chinese classical music. I guess I'm just set in my ways

I'd totally prefer Greg Edmondson cranking something out over any song...but I'm just naming stuff off that I think would fit. Like I just listened to Crystal Method's Weapons of Mass Distortion...I think that'd be cool to hear in a trailer for Serenity.

Sorry, I accidently posted too early. Another song is Never Gonna Go Back Down by BT. Some browncoats may notice this song being used in FOX's ads for Firefly...it's very cool and worth a listen. Sorry again aoubt the doublepost.

This'll probably get a collective groan from the rest of you, but I always thought "Been Caught Stealing" from Ja(y)ne's Addiction would be oddly appropriate - or possibly even a re-write of "Ja(y)ne Says".

Just a thought.
