I have yet to buy my ticket for dragon con, and I was wondering if anyone could help me out on the best way to do it.

I am not familiar with the process, so please forgive my ignorance.

I understand I can but it via ticketmaster, but where do I pick it up? I will probably be buying the full pass for all the days.

Should I expect to wait in line a long time?

Any information would be helpful. Thanks in advance for your time!

They didnt call it the dark ages because it was dark.

I second that. Another newbie here, and I haven't a gorram clue as to what to expect. I can't beleive that Jewel will be appearing right when it conflicts w/ my schedule the worst. Grrrrrrrrrr! Sacrafices will be made, rest assured.

I did read something about Lord of the Rings stuff going on too, which interests me mightily.

Give us the low down and don't skimp on the details.

I suggest both of you head to the "Anyone going to DragonCon in Atlanta" thread and read. ShinyHappyKlin has a great post all about the Con. As far as tickets, according to DragonCon, if you pre-purchase a ticket you pick it up at DragonCon on the pre-registration line. You can pick up starting Thursday evening, starting at 8pm?? (can't remember) until 11pm I believe. Then also starting Friday morning.

The Firefly guests will have 3 sessions, so AUraptor you should be able to make at least one!

Also, the fans are meeting at 8:30pm on Friday night at the Firefly fan table in the Marriott Marquis hotel. Fan table will be somewhere on the first floor.

I suggest you both read the thread I suggested above as there is much to be learned from it. We'll see you in 6 days!

As a five year vet of dragoncon I guess I'll jump in and give you the 411.

4 day full passes can be purchased at the "door" on thursday and friday (after that its an assortment of 1 to 3 day passes at a discounted price) or through ticketmaster to be picked up at the "door"

When you walk into the front of the hyatt you make a right toward the registration desks and keep going right until you go down a hall toward the International tower. Just past that is a set of escalators, go down those to the um.. International ballroom I belive. (its the only thing down there you cant miss it)

Depending on when you get there 3pm vs 9pm the line for Pre-reg tickets could be about 2 hours long and come out the door and up to the next level, and unfortunately even if your buying at the door you'll probably have to stand in the line at least long enough to get into the main doors of the ballroom.

Once in the ballroom there are several lines. One line is for Pre-Reg tickets then there are usually two or three booths for Ticketmaster and one or two booths for on site registration.

I've never seen anyone wait more than 20 minutes in the ticketmaster or on-site registrations lines. So if you get there early enough on thursday or friday you should in theory be able to just walk into the ballroom, up to your booth and purchase your ticket in 15 minutes or less.

The penalty for getting a $40 pre-reg ticket in advance is the ungodly line you stand in. The penalty for getting a on site is you pay $85 and you get a crappy little pin on badge instead of the nice laminated lanyard badge, but you save alot of time.

Hope any of that answers your questions. (oh and as far as registration on thurs goes I registered at 4 pm last year so I know it goes from at least 3 - 11pm.

Sweet! Glad that the 3 BDH's sessions won't be bunched together, even though it would be nice to see them all at once.

I just booked with Ticketmaster's Fast Ticket option in which you print out your ticket on your computer. They are still only charging $75, but there are handling fees.

I guess I'll still be in the Ticketmaster line? I'm driving in Friday morning and may hit the lines around noon or 1pm, which will probably be an ordeal. Ah, anything for the BDH.

I'm going to wear a brown short sleeve sweater and hope that will do for Browncoat ID.

Honestly Cardie, I myself wouldn't go up to someone wearing a brown shirt (Browncoat, that's different). Too much chance of a mistake, not that any sci-fi fan would be hostile but you know what I mean. I'm thinking something that you wouldn't normally wear, but the brown shirt is fine. I think you may find you'll be the one making the first move :) which is shiny! We'll see you soon.

I figured if I'm at the browncoat fan table at 8:30 wearing brown that people will get the general idea.

Hell its dragoncon, just stand in the middle of the biggest group of people you can find and yell (browncoats!) and see who cheers or looks at you. Commence with talking.

There are no fau pas at dragoncon. Everyone is a sci-fi/gaming geek. Do as you will.
