games into movies

with the impending release of resident evil apocolypse, i thought it would be interesting to see what other games people might like to see turned into feature films. there is a similar discussion on the IMDB message boards, but i thought i would post here too!

pick any kind of game with a story: action, sci-fi, goofy, kids games, role playing, strategy. pick from PC games, nintendo, sega, atari, whatever!

my first choices would have to be:
1. any of the monkey island series (or all 4 games!) i love those games to death. they are so funny. the curse of monkey island would probably make the best movie, though.
2. warcraft. always thought it would be a fun movie, especially with the goofy elements to the games like the things the characters say if you keep clicking on them.

The Halo series absolutely...nothing creepier then the Flood. Not to mention Cortana has one of those sex kitten voices.

i remember when i got to the flood, i had the lights off and it was raining. Woo. talk about creepy. Suddenly there were these horrible creatures everywhere. Zombie here, new zombie there, all these muted marshmallow men coming at me from all sides.

Yep, Halo would make a cool movie.

There is already a nearly finished DVD of Final Fantasy ( a new one ) set in the world and using the character of FFVII. Vincent looks great.

Also I hear that Jerry Bruckheimer may be working on a Rifts movie. Rifts is a RPG (non videogame) about post-apocalyptic Earth with Rifts opening to various worlds and dimensions. Lot of fun. My primary RPG at this point.

I'd love to see Diablo turned into a movie. Maybe that would get people talking about doing Diablo III.
Also A Castlevania film could be interesting or could be really bad depending on who did it.

I've read all the books. They are pretty amazing, particularly the whole story behind the spartans. I invited my Brother-in law over for a weekend. We went through the game on legendary in 27 hours LOL. It was the freakiest when we encountered "343, The Guilty Spark" at like 2 am LOL. We nicknamed the marshmallow type dudes, "Popcorn Heads" hehe.

We had a thread like this once before, so I'll just echo myself:

I'd love to see Ocarina of Time or Majora's Mask (the N64 Zelda games) done as animé.

Preferably by studio CLAMP (who do Cardcaptor Sakura and Angelic Layer, among others), mainly due to their great art design (ten-year-olds actually look like ten-year-olds), their skilled character writing, and their skill with dynamic fight scenes (seriously; it's like they double the frame speed in action sequences so everything gets all smooth and dazzlingly fast).

well, the games were based on the pirates of the caribbean ride at disney, and the filme pirates of the caribbean was based on the pirates of the caribbean ride at disney. so you've almost got that :)

i guess. still, i would love a movie about guybrush. an animated feature would be great.

i did love the pirates of the carribean movie, though. lots of fun. definitely a movie that was intended to be over the top and outrageous. someone once complained to me that the movie was not realistic in its portrayal of pirates. my response is DUH! it is not supposed to be!

Well it was obvious, wasn't it?

I mean when i tell you:

"There is this guy who has a crush on a girl which is kidnapped by a zombie-pirate, and he sets out to rescue her...."

You cannot tell if its PotC or MI....
When I saw the movie I expected Orlando Bloom to say "I'm Guybrush Threepwood, mighty Pirate"....

But back to topic.
A "Half Life" Movie would be great, but I'm ok for they are doing a "Far Cry" Movie and thats nearly the same.....

A "Legend of Zelda" movie would also be great....

a fifth game will probably not happen for a while (if ever, unfortunately). it took about 4 years (i think) to get from curse of monkey island to escape from monkey island. the last word i heard from lucasarts is that the team that made the monkey island games was disbanded and some people even have left lucasarts. still, the rumors are still rampant that a fifth game will happen. there were even fake sound bites from the "fifth" game made by the group at mixin mojo that did all four games. hilarious stuff! i am still crossing my fingers, though. i would prefer that the cast that did the games also be in the movie (ie the main people like guybrush, elaine (although her voice changed between games 3 and 4), lechuck, murray (THE BEST!), wally etc.). any new characters could be done by anyone without any complaints from me.
