[Apologies for cross-posting this on multiple boards, but I thought it was significant enough to mention in various forums.]

Greetings, people!

As I have mentioned in some of my other posts, I work for Margaret Weis, New York Times best-selling author of Dragonlance, Darksword, Rose of the Prophet, Death Gate Cycle, Starshield, Star of the Guardians, Sovereign Stone, and the Dragonvarld trilogy. She has been a great fan of Firefly, ever since I brought home the unaired pilot from Dragon*Con a few years back (before the show hit the airwaves). Margaret left Dragon*Con this year to launch a nationwide book tour, and she asked me to pass along a message to our fellow Browncoats.

In addition to promoting her new novels, AMBER & ASHES (Dragonlance) and THE DRAGON'S SON (Dragonvarld), Margaret is going to be talking up the Firefly DVD collection and the film Serenity. She wants the movie to be successful as much as any other fan! Margaret will be meeting with hundreds of people over the next week, so hopefully there will be new converts from her efforts! The first stop is in Atlanta tonight.

If you'd like to get a book signed, or would just like to meet a fellow Browncoat (who just happens to be a very successful author), check the Tour schedule listed on www.margaretweis.com -- she would love to meet you!

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

This is truly great news Jamie. Thanks for posting!

I have long been an admirer of Margaret Weis work, ever since the original Dragonlance series. I have not read much from her in the past couple of years as I have had other thing taking up much of my free time, but I mean to get back to them.

I think it is shiny that she plans to take up the cause and talk up the DVD set and Serenity. Her influence will be a great advantage for us Browncoats in getting more fans onboard to make sure the movie is a success.

Please give Margaret our most heartfelt thanks for her support!

ooo! that is neat. i have long enjoyed her books. the star of the guardians trilogy is my favorite. her seven books that involved those characters were easily my favorite of her books. speaking of which, i even e-mailed her once to ask if there were going to be more star of the guardian books and she said most likely not. :( oh well. it was still neat to actually get a reply. i had not expected one. always nice when writers and such are willing to send even brief messages directly to their fans.

This is awesome...I was totally blown away by all of you in the booth (Including Margaret!) wearing Firefly tee shirts, practically every day you were there! (Ok, so did I, but...) It was a great show of support, and from someone so well known, it just makes me all quivery (??) with excitement!

You guys are great, and I guess I'll have to put some new books on my reading list in honor of a fellow Browncoat...

Excellent! Glad you like Star of the Guardians. It's my favorite, and I think a lot of people would respond to a movie version. It is a cousin to Star Wars, but after the recent (disapointing) prequels, Star of the Guardians could actually do well!

She could mention it on her website.

nice to hear from another fan of that series. did you read the fourth installment of the original star of the guardians called "ghost legion"? also, weis wrote another trilogy about xris and his mercenaries called "mag force 7". they are pretty good too. many of the characters make appearances like tusk, dion and dixter. unfortunately, i do not believe the mag force 7 books are in print anymore, but you can find them on ebay for pretty cheap. i got both books 1 and 2 online for about 50 cents total. :)
