Problem is i keep trying and start getting into to much detail and am just finding it hard. BROWNCOAT1

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Why not use the introduction paragraphs that the movie site uses:

In Serenity, Browncoats are Independent Faction soldiers, a body opposed to the AngloSino Alliance in the Unification War. Defeated at Serenity Valley on Hera in 2511, Browncoats are forced to live as galactic outcasts. A small band of them skim the outskirts of the galaxy unnoticed until they find themselves caught between the unstoppable military force of the Universal Alliance and the horrific, cannibalistic fury of the Reavers, savages who roam the very edge of space.

Captain Malcolm Reynolds is a hardened veteran on the losing side of a galactic civil war, who now ekes out a living pulling off small crimes and transport-for-hire aboard his ship, Serenity. He leads a small, eclectic crew who are the closest thing he has left to family - squabbling, insubordinate and undyingly loyal. Mal takes on two new passengers-a young doctor and his unstable, telepathic sister, and gets much more than he bargained for. The pair are fugitives from the coalition dominating the universe, who will stop at nothing to reclaim the telepathic sister.

This sums up the backstory and is interesting enough to get people to check it out.

I think Browncoat1 has the right idea. The only thing I would add is that you might want to include mention of the fact that it is from Joss Whedon (if you aren't already).

Of course it seems, from what I've read, that there are plenty of Firefly fans that are no particular fans of Buffy or Angel. So, inclusion of the Joss statement would depend on how you're targeting the message.

Love to see the website when it's ready. Make sure you give us the link.

YT

the movie is not the Series. Only the facts have been changed, to irritate the innocent; the names of the actors and characters remain the same

Speaking of which, you might wanna include a warning that Firefly contains both spaceships & horses.

I've found that it's pretty much impossible to describe Firefly in a way that makes it sound as good as it is. Or even close to as good as it is. If you say "space western", it freaks people out, or they think of the original Star Trek...if you just describe it as the movie blurb does, it ends up sounding like a Star Wars ripoff.

The best I've been able to do is give a really quick description of the Alliance and the Browncoats, say they lost, then say something like "but what the show is REALLY about is nine extremely different people and the ways they all see the universe. The backstory isn't the point; the characters are the point."
