Hi to all of you who were interested in a London meetup.

The original venue pulled out, which threw me into a bit of chaos. Also, a lot of the venues I tried to book refused me because they had better offers from office parties and the like.

Anyway, I think the best solution is to organise something a little less regimented. For example, we simply meet up somewhere where we don't have to hire the room, or have a minimum bar spend or any of that nonsense.

The date will be Saturday December 4th, meeting at Trafalgar Square for the arrival of the Christmas Tree, and then onto a venue which has room for a bunch of us to meet, but won't necessarily want money for the room. (They might ask for a deposit to reserve space in case no-one turns up).

What does everyone think?

Sounds good, that day is a good one for me, cheap day return from Ipswich. And I can bring the kids (even if we have to drop out when you go to the pub). I'm really looking forward to meeting some people before Starfury: Serenity.

Hey guys!

More news about London, I have booked a room in The Griffin pub on Charing Cross road which will allow us our own private bit of the pub and mean that we don't have to trawl round the capital looking for space enough for all of us on a Saturday night. Also, they serve food til nine, so good vittles aplenty.

Thanks Doubleshiny, this is sounding better by the day. Now, do I wear my kinda brownish coat or the lovely new chinese embroidered jacket? Decisions, decisions.

Sounds like a shiny idea to me... >_< Can't... resist... Make that a doubly-shiny idea! (Sorry!)

Could you keep me informed, please? Gettin' up to London won't be the easiest of jobs from Devon, but if I can, I shall come.

Will do!

You can always kill two birds with one stone and do some Christmas shopping while you're down in London (or across, as is more accurate)

Will it be okay to bring the children to the pub (just for a little while)(two are taller than I am so probably not a problem)? Is anyone meeting up before 8pm, if so where and when?

Hey everyone

Yes, it's still happening but I haven't had any new stuff to post.

I'm calling into the Griffin on Tuesday, so if there's anything you need to know, post it here and I'll find out.

Debbie, how old are your kids? I'll ask at the pub, but seeing as it's a separate room I doubt there'll be a problem.

As soon as I get my act together there will be a Shindigs page on Alan Tudyk dot net, so if anyone else has things planned, let me know.

Hi Doubleshiny
Youngest is 10, daughter is 12 going on 19 and could quite possibly buy her own drinks(!), eldest is 16 (will be by then). We'll not be staying late as trains back to Ipswich are not fun. Oooh it's so exciting !!!

Hi everyone

I called into the Griffin yesterday and the room they have for us is right by the bar, but separate from the rest of the pub. Food will be on sale at the bar for anyone who wants it.

The pub is incredibly easy to find. On the tube, just get to Charing Cross, exit the station on the Strand / Villers St and it's right behind you as you go up the steps.

I'll stick a wee sign up somewhere, but basically, you go through the front door,(the one facing the tube station) down a few steps to the bar and go left, there's a doorway in there and that is where you shall find the Firefly fun!

Can everyone who's intending to go please send me a PM and I will make up some kind of list. We'll be in there from eight.

Hurrah!
PS Feel free to bring a Firefly related and greatly tacky table centrepiece.

I hope it's less chilly in London on the 4th than it was today. I spent the morning freezing in line for the Apple Store opening. I think I have frostbite now but, more importantly, I have seen iPod photo. And I have another of those nifty T-shirts!

Thanks to everyone who came, I think that was what you'd call a success!

There are more meetups on the way so I'll try and keep everyone informed, but it might be an idea to go to Meetup.com and sign up in the Firefly section for wherever you are.

I'll post the pics as soon as poss.
