No one contacted you? How odd! The hat-seekers
thanked me and indicated that they'd "found" you!

(Someone is OUT there impersonating Slayer???
No, no, that seems unlikely...)

A contact list would be shiny.
Especially if it had addresses, cuz
then I would know if you guys were 17402 or 17403
or some other zip code we used to know :-)

17404, actually LOL

Hmmm...I have someone posing as me? But the real questions are:

DO THEY KNOW WHY RICK MEADOWS DIED?

and

WHAT IS THE FUNCTION OF A BOARD BITCH?

Only then will you truly know it is me.

I still have a partial contact list. I sent mine to MOH for additional details she might have, but I gather she's been quite busy since the Shindig. I'll send mine out soon if I don't hear from her.

Hi all,

Just wanted to let you know about my forthcoming performances. There are two.

This Sunday I will be appearing in the UMBC Theatre 24 Hour Play Festival. The performance will consist of two short plays which have been conceived, written and produced in the preceding 24 hour period. I will be acting in at least one of them. This event will take place in the UMBC Theatre Building at 8pm on Sunday the 14th of November and is free.

I am also appearing in UMBC Theatre's production of "Fanshen". I'm never good at explaining this play, so I'll just paste the blurb in below:

Fanshen by David Hare

A fascinating play from one of England's greatest playwrights, David Hare's Fanshen is, in his own words, "a play for Europe, for the West. Besides trying to explain as deftly as possible the aim and operation of land reform in China, to show how it changed souls as well as bodies, the play is much concerned with political leadership, with the relationship in any society between leadership and led."
Brutal, tender, violent, reasoned, and all-absorbing, Fanshen throws a brilliant light on the critical years in the late 1940s that gave birth to modern China by focusing on one village's struggle to survive war, want, oppression and corruption, until it finally learns how to take control of its own destiny.

Set and costumes by guest designer Holly Highfill; lighting by Terry Cobb; vocal director Lynn Watson; dramaturg Susan McCully; directed by Xerxes Mehta.

Violence, nudity, explicit language.
For Mature Audiences.

Showtimes:
Thursday, December 2, 8 pm (preview)
Friday, December 3, 8 pm
Saturday, December 4, 8 pm
Thursday, December 9, 4 pm
Friday, December 10, 8 pm
Saturday, December 11, 8 pm
Sunday, December 12, 4 pm
All performances will be held in the UMBC Theatre. Admission: $10 general admission, $5 students and seniors, $3 for the preview. Ticket proceeds benefit the Department of Theatre Scholarship Fund. For information and reservations, call the Theatre Box Office at 410-455-2476.
---
Oh, and as an extra incentive (or disincentive), the nudity referred to is me and it is in a brutal torture scene, so is not even vaguely erotic!

I'd love for any Browncoats who can make it to come and see me perform. I may be able to accomodate some people from out of town, but I won't have much in the way of time during the run of the production!

Directions to UMBC can be found here:

Oooh! Maybe we could FINALLY get to play all the groovy Ryan and Courtney Firefly Games????

Lemme run it past the Bonnet Boy :-)

We haven't heard from the York/Lancaster Old Friends of Bob Network yet, so plans are fluid.

Sidenote to Ceph and Mali: I get depressed on NYE without my friends and family around me. The more I can look around and see people I want to keep knowing in the years ahead, the less that whole time-keeps-slipping-into-the-future concept seems like a totally bad thing.

I say, the ideal is to spend New Year's snug and safe among your pals/loved ones. You don't go to Times Square to be crushed by screaming strangers. You don't go on the road during those dangerous hours when the drunks are most likely pulling Crazy Ivans on the highways. You drink your champagne toasts to people that matter, and sleep where you fall down: That's MY New Years strategy.

Anyways, I want you folks who stay safely on couches to know that I consider you part of my "friends around me" total when the clock strikes 2005, whether you stay on your couches or not :-)

(And if you *are* on couches, I hope you've got one or more folks to snuggle with!)

Okay! That just made me cry. See, I have just left my husband and, due to that, my mother is not speaking to me. I haven't spoken to my father in 3 years and I also have lost all but one of my friends, in part due to the marriage break-up situation. Another friend whom I met here on FFF.net, Gunhand, has gone missing. We used to spend hours and hours chatting every day for months and months and now nothing. I'm with Badgershat/Jefe/El Magnifico: it makes you not want to go on. I am avoiding all evidence of the holidays this year. I will be done school for 2 monts and plan to read every waking moment that I am not at work. I have a pile of books just waiting for me to dive into them. Books are my oldest friends anyway!

oh mal {{{{{hugs)))))

Books have been good friends of mine, too.

So sorry to hear about the husband and mother thing.

Actually, I can SO relate: After my son died, I thought my marriage would be the next casualty, and things were touch and go between me and Bonnet Bob for...well, there are still things we just avoid discussing, so we can get on with the things that are good. And he's BOB - everyone loves Bob! IF I had left Bob, not only would my MOTHER have given me a hard time, but everyone would have dumped me, I'm certain. No kidding. Everybody adores Bob (with or without bonnet) and I have no illusions about which of us would keep most of our friends. Sigh. Fortunately, I love Bob, too, despite the things that can't be fixed, and I'm hoping we'll be okay.

Really, Mal, consider putting the books on hold for New Years Eve and joining us. OR, if you want more of a night-with-the-girlz, I hear my recently-divorced and much-wilder sister may host a party in North Jersey: Hey, she's been through two husbands and she's never without interesting company. I also *just* introduced her to Firefly this past weekend and sister Andrea (who reminds my daughter and her friend of Inara, BTW) seems to be tilting strongly to the Nathan Could Park His Boots Neath My Bed camp. I bet an evening with a True Fan like you could push Andrea all the way into becoming a genuine Fillionaire/FF Convert.

(And yes I DID just invite you to crash a party I was deliberately avoiding - my sister is trying to influence my daughter's college plans in ways I don't appreciate! But that doesn't mean YOU couldn't crash Sister's party and have a swell time!)

Um, where was I?

Mal, I'm just suggesting a couple of alternatives, honey, if you and your red bellish wit would care to be in the company of persons on NYE :-)

Also, should we put out an APB on this Gunhand person????? You've got Small Damn Heroes at your back, Mal, if you need us, darlink.

Well as others have said Mali, let us know if we can do anything to be of help. Not sure what I can do from far away other than be supportive.

As for NYE, last year I spent it at a friends house, but they have now moved away. Me and mr. couch this year I think. Still, unsuccessfully, looking for someone to snuggle with. . I am starting to feel the age presure hitting me. Hopefully will get this dealt with soon.

Flooze, Board Bitch and Chowda Head,

Thanks EVER so much for the support. It helps endless amounts, you have no idea. I turn to this site in all my times of need, believe me. And it never fails me.

Gunhand will always hold a place in my...hard drive and he knows it. If he wants to talk to me, he will, I have no doubts.

As for my family? Frankly, I'm better off. Less stressed, you know?

Thanks for the invites, I may take you up on some or all of them!

I was rummaging around in the bottom of my purse (looking for gum, I think) and guess what I found!?! A piece of blue paper with the following written on it:

"$2397.00

I looked at it for a minute before a very large grin broke out on my face and I started laughing. Right out loud. In the hair salon.

Ahhhh, memories.....

Post-performance blog as requested:

The 24 Hour Play Festival was a big success. We even had to provide extra seats because we had a much bigger audience than expected.

I was in a play called White Houses about (surprise) a corrupt politician running for reelection as president. Or more accurately a stupid politician with corrupt advisors running for reelection. I got to play the President of the United States (probably the only time that will ever happen!)

Putting even a ten minute play together in what was effectively 12 hours after it was written is challenging! Particularly when this one ended with big special effects. I won't say too much more because I may be able to bring a DVD of it to the shindig next year. Along with my movie. As long as people don't mind a 30 minute intrusion of Rob related stuff - I promise not to take up so much time as to make any of you ladies miss Simon with his shirt off again

I don't really have much in the way of amusing anecdotes, as most of the day is a bit blurry and seen through the eyes of a Red Bull induced haze.

Don't forget Fanshen coming up starting December 2nd and featuring Rob's butt....

And because I have soooo much amor for my fellow horsey PA buds, I thought I'd let everybody know that I'm already setting aside TV box sets for next year! I got some Xena, I got some Reba, I got some King of the Hill, and I got me some M*A*S*H Season 7, and here it's only November.

Damn, next year maybe I should sneak up and sell these puppies outta my car!
