I just logged on the “Strawberries” site http://lurid-eidolon.org/strawberries/ and noticed that only about 60 people have voted since the site went up in late August. I note that between 500-1000 have read the various stories in the Blue Sun Room. In the spirit of Election Day I urge all lovers of fan fiction to vote for the candidate of your choice.

Hi defender. Actually, umm...voting ended a while ago. We left the voting open for two or three weeks and inquired whether or not others wanted it open longer. After no responses, voting was closed. Dunno what was with the low voting turnout since we did get a fantastic number of nominations (just ask my fellow judges!). However, between the amount of time it took us to announce the finalists and then the wonderful weather in florida, I can only guess that folks had other things to do.

Anyway, you can go here http://lurid-eidolon.org/fireflyawards/viewtopic.php?t=28 to view the winners. More official announcements will be made once we have the banners for all the winners done (our umm, banner designer suffered a computer crash and lives in florida. This was an organizing year, we hope to be much more organized next year;) At that time, Haken has also asked that we do a feature for fff.net, so look for that..hopefully before the end of the year!

Anyway, when you drop by the board, feel free to give us suggestions if you like. After a vacation of a few months or so, we will be reorganizing and have been studying other fanfic award processes to see if we should alter things. Originally, I had thought that having the fandom vote on the finalists would be a great way to have reader's express their true opinions, but I dunno.

Anyway, that is my rambling explanation. Oh, and we know the voting site is still up. Our webmistress lives in florida as well and has also been dealing w/ an illness so we haven't revamped that site and we wanted to leave the links to the finalists up to the newbies. We will be posting a site w/ the banners and archived fics of all the winners as well as links to the fics of all the authors/stories nominated.

Btw...don't suppose the awards spurred your own muse any??? hehehe. Sorry, been a long dry fall of very little firefly fanfic.

Sorry, the muse is there but the time is not. Our office has suffered massive cutbacks and crime is a growth industry in a failing economy. Multiple murder cases make for bad writing conditions. The end of The Price Paid is actually all outlined but I just haven't had a chance to sit down and write anything but a (legal) motion. Mea culpa, but I just can't justify the time away from my clients and family.

I only get a chance to check in on this site every other week or so, I must have missed the announcement of the winners, though I can figure it out from the final voting numbers. (I LOVED Big Damn Zombies! I almost choked myself to death laughing every time I read it!)

Sigh, understand only too well about time. Stupid thesis actually require me to work normal hours..no more staying home when the muse calls. Well, will cross my fingers that crime drops off eventually.
