As many of you will know, I recently contacted Universal re: Serenity UK release date, and hit a brick wall. I have since established contact with the UK office of UIP, who have now confirmed they definitely have distribution rights for the UK (Read: yay).

They have confirmed they’re looking at the beginning of 2005, and mentioned the US date of April (although this obviously doesn’t confirm they are tied, but read between the lines). Interestingly, it just so happens some of the cast of Serenity are already planning to be in the UK at this time (Jewel has confirmed this).

The other bit of news: the UK UIP chaps say are **very** excited about Serenity now. Word is that Joss is also very excited, because Universal are excited. This all bodes very well (a rough cut has been finished recently).

I will be keeping tabs with UIP, and have been given press level access to things, so more news to come.

We’re flyin’.

Kevin, you've made me tremendously happy.

After the dizzying high of attending a fab fancy dress Halloween night (I went as Shawn from Shawn of the Dead), I was brought rather low by that hoo-farah on Wednesday - but that's not important for now, as this is the sterling news I have been waiting for!

Yay! Yay-o-yay!

Serenity is showing in the UK! And why not? After all, are not we Redcoats as diehard as you Browncoats? Have we not bought the DVD's in excess? Huzzah for Joss! Huzzah for Universal! Huzzah for Kevin!

And I'm chuffed to hear that UIP and UK UIP Are really excited about it! Truly, the Universal executives are the executives of champions, and deserve warm, manly handshakes or delightful curtsies from the parasol twirling fairer sex.

Thanks!

Pete

Pete, your response just goes to show that the Browncoat knows no borders. Under the Browncoat, all are one. Being of the British persuasion (), under your browncoat lies a red, but does that affect your Browncoatedness? Not one whit!

(Look! I just randomly made up a word! )

Well... yeah. That'd be the Starfury 'Serenity' convention, 29th April to 1st May at the Thistle Hotel, Heathrow. Those guests so far include Morena Baccarin, Alan Tudyk, Jewel Staite and Summer Glau, with more to come, hopefully.

P.S. My place has been booked for aaaages

P.P.S. Woo! "Serenity" in the UK!

Too true, Astriana!

And though I love the look of the redcoat, who wouldn't secretly prefer one of Mal's ace dusters?

But secretly I like to think that there was a Redcoat brigade in Serenity from the planet of the cockneys (Daysun's colony? something like that? Excuse to rewatch Safe! Hurrah!) who fought with equal gusto. And that Badger's older brother was killed doing so. And that's why Badger's got a chip on his shoulder against Mal. But keeps it secret.

... in recent years, I've noticed that some british people can present an incredibly excited bit of speaking, and even though i can't help but get excited myself, I rarely have the slightest clue what's actually been said...

Pete, I get the idea that you're happy, but what the HELL did you just say???

Yay for the UK! The more countries Serenity premieres in, the better the chances for a sequel!

No problem, Badgershat!

On Sunday I was happy from Halloween and dressing up as Shawn from Shawn of the dead.

On Wednesday I became depressed by the election results.

Today I am greatly cheered by the news that Serenity will be showing in the UK - I always feared that it might miss us somehow. (Irrational, I know, but bless you Universal!)

The redcoat reference is to the nickname our armies bore in the days of the early empire. Because I am a Brit, and it sounds like Browncoat, and it is not an alliance bluecoat, I use that. Then I remind folks of the fervour for Firefly in the UK too.

And ace name, Badgershat!

Excellent news for all us Browncoats in the UK.
This is seriously shiny. Let's hope Blunkett doesn't try to block it's entry...

No he'll decide that it will only be available in those regions who are prepared to pay lots of extra money for an unnecessary layer of government, which includes funding for a new police force identified by their blue hands in order to keep down too much dangerously subversive independent thought.
