I feel like I should know this but.... no:
What? Who? are the Fighting Elves referenced on one of Jayne's shirts? And what is the significance of the number "28?"

(And by the way, Fighting Elves shirts are now available for pre-order at bluesunshirts.com and I have absolutely no connection to the site just thought you might like to know.)

Don't know. Don't care. I just like 'em and think the shirt is cool.

(It's probably a future football/basketball/baseball/hockey team he likes and he picked up the shirt at a game. After they won the Super Bowl/Championship Game/World Series/Stanley Cup.)

JEWEL

I always assumed it was a sports team of some variety and that 28 was the number of one of the players.

LOSTINTHEVERSE

It could be the mystical Elves of all existence...

Certain (obscure) lore explains that 28 mystical elves, representing the many facets of nature and supernature, are to spend eternity fighting in an all out brawl for supremacy. The moment one of them wins, existence will cease to be.

Being as there are 28 of them, balance is always maintained. Whenever one of them knocks another down, he is immediately knocked down by a third elf, thus giving the first one time to recuperate and get back up.

I believe that the shirt is in praise and acknowledgement of the 28 Mystical Fighting Elves that keep eternity going.

Okay, so maybe I made all that up as I was posting it... Hey, I can dream.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I'm w/ Jewel. I figure they must be some sort of sports team from the time of Firefly & that 28 was a popular player.

Could just be a made up thing. Like Abercrombie and American Eagle and Insert Retail Clothes Store Here.

They all have sports type team names and numbers that have no real teams or numbers to match up to, and yet they exists.

Like American Eagle has the Eagle Warriors sports stuff, so maybe it's the Blue Sun brand shirt with the Fighting Elves.

Jayne shopping at Abercrombie and Fitch - there's a nice image...mall musak in the background, he's holding six shopping bags following his *girlfriend* around the store, "this is so cute!" "Hey there precious, how's about we play the game where you pretend like it's your money?"

That guy, working electric, he never drank with us!

I have a feeling that Jayne just walked, flashed Vera, took what he wanted, and left.
