Hey isnt it about time for a new weekly poll. Maybe we could start a thread with ideas for polls, unless everyone is sick of them after that election, anyways just a suggestion.

Is this a poll? Cuz I vote "yes, we should have a weekly poll" if it is. Someone else can think up the topics, though.

Well, that depends. Is this real killin' or indirect killin' ?
To clarify, if Book really was a judge or some alliance related official, he might have ordered a lot of deaths, but not neccessarily carried them out himself.
So speculatively speaking I would say Book.

However, based on what is known,
I think I have to say Zoe.

indirect killin' *snickers* :D

We talked about polls, once. Don't remember where.

I say, who has the best hat?

1) Jayne
2) Badger
3) Patience
4) Two-Fry

Who else....?

I feel like I'm missing someone obvious...

Edited: Above I was refering to the orange hat Jayne's mom mailed him. There is also Jayne's "goggle hat".

I'm going with Two-Fry, since it's clearly a relic from Earth-That-Was. Once belonged to Slash, from G'n'R...

As a write-in, the very cooperative goon who decided against getting kicked thru the engine, in favor of returning Niska's money in TTJ. Curtis Sliwa's beret, with Mardi Gras bling, if I recall correctly (or else I'm sleep deprived).

I forgot Jayne's "goggle hat", used as a disguise on Higgins' Moon (and when he jumped down on the train in Train Job?).

And didn't one of the nasty girls in Shindig have some tiny little thing perched upon her head?

And the medical uniform hats worn by Our Heroes in Ariel.

And the belhop hats worn by Purplebellies everywhere! (Those have killed the least people, IMHO.)

Here's a possible poll topic: Whose poll is bigger?

A. Succatash
B. TheRealMe

Both are four items long, although TRM has suggested his may be at least twice as long as it actually is; points may have to be deducted for exaggerating his poll's length. Then again, maybe it just gets longer when people start paying attention to it. Judges?

And before anybody else suggests it, zoid's poll is clearly only half as long as the other two, and so doesn't merit consideration. (zoid pre-snides himself, so 'tash can't)

Inquisitively,

zoid

P.S.
I like mashed potatoes and corn mixed together. I call it 'succ-a-toe', after succotash (lima beans and corn mixture). The kids have always loved it, but my wife took a while to come around... Which is odd, considering she's British and they've got 'bubble and squeak'... Apropos of absolutely nothing...

Just out of interest, where does "clarified" come from, in the butter sense? (Yes, I'm a Brit. I know of "salted" and "unsalted" and "I can't believe it's not butter[TM]", but not "clarified". I've always wondered.)

I don't know much about cooking, but I think it comes from making the butter more clear. Removing impurities an such.

You melt butter over a low heat for a long time. The milk solids settle out and the water boils away. When you strain it through a cheese cloth, you have a semi-transparent yellow oil - hence, clarified. It's also called ghee, and is essential in Indian cooking. Many people believe it is healthier than solid butter.

Zoid!

I think the length of their polls should be taken into consideration, but so should the GIRTHS. How large in circumfrence are their polls? A girl needs to know these things before she casts her vote.

Well now that we've clarified the subject of clarified butter. and I sound redundant like I'm saying the same thing over and over.

I vote for Mal's pretty bonnet as best hat.

Yeah. But, like Citizen Dick's "Touch Me, I'm Dick", some people might think I was saying, y'know, 'Touch me... I'm Dick"; but, I think you could take it both ways.

P.S.
One of my favorite movies of all time. Anything with the late, great Alice In Chains live and Pearl Jam as Cliff's band is a keeper in my books. Soundgarden performs live in it, too.

P.P.S.
Notice how zoid is still craftily edging away from a subject he spawned?

You can edge away from it all day long, and into the next morning, as long as you are not saying "Touch MY..." Ummmm, on second thought, never mind (Miss Emily Litella voice).

Mal-licious, and anyone else who may have misread my overly vague references:

Citizen Dick is a fictitious band from the 1992 movie "Singles" ( http://imdb.com/title/tt0105415/ ). Cliff Poncier, played by Matt Dillon, is being interviewed by a local music scene reporter, about their new single, "Touch Me, I'm Dick", which is apparently a big hit in the Netherlands, although it's being roundly ignored in hometown Seattle. The comment from my last post is a fair paraphrasal of Cliff's response, when asked about the meaning of the song's title. I couldn't find the exact quote; but, I think I got it within an article or two.

My point was that I was assaying double entendre, with the 'Poll Poll'. But it got too rough. I apologize to anyone I offended.

Respectfully,

zoid

Sweetie, I hope to HELL you don't mean ME!! The only thing I take offense at is being ignored. That is the most painful rejection on earth-that-still-is! You, Zoid, couldn't offend me with a 10-foot poll. Or pole even. If ever you WANT to offend me, let me know and I'll be all kinds of offended on your behalf. Otherwize, just remain to bein' the same, cuz me luvs you for it.

'lish:

Thanks for the reassurance. I'm a risk-taker. Most of the time, I manage to make myself understood. But when I 'miss', the resulting misunderstanding can be spectacular. It's downright mortifying, I can tell you.

And then I get right back up the tree, saw in hand, onto another high limb. I'm a menace. Ask me sometime how I managed to totally p*ss off a 'full bird' at the Pentagon, who literally called my base commander demanding a stripe or two. Very scary...

As for you, naughty girl, you must know you are my kind of sassy. I adore playful women. It's all about self-assurance, innit?

However, my vote has to go to that... THING on top of the Mudder folk singer.

TheRealMe, and fellows:

I thought JW said the bad guys wear hats. It occurs to me that just about everyone wears hats of some kind or another on the show, now and again. Even Inara wears one in Trash.

Everyone except the Blue Hands, that is. Does that seem right to you? Unless of course JW's trying to make some deeply philosophical statement about the duality of human nature. You know, every human has the seeds of both good and evil within them...

Either that or Joss just likes dressing his actors in ridiculous getups every chance he gets:

JW: "Okay, Nat, in the gunfight scene we'll be shooting today, you'll be wearing a settler's gingham dress and a quite attractive bonnet."

NF: "I'll be who-wha-hunh?"

Sartorially,

zoid
