Thanks a bunch Spooky! Here's hoping material like this keeps leaking from the studio into these 'back channels'; first UIP, now whedonesque...

Yeah!

P.S.
I think it looks great, even if it turns out to be a fan's work. It certainly looks like a professional job. Either it is official (which I suspect), or someone with real skills in graphics composition did it; it's seamless and crisp. I'll use it on my Nokia, for starters...

I guess it's hard to have flair when you've got a movie named "Peace".

I like it better than the Serenity in the Firefly font.

The chinese gong element could be fairly iconic if used right.......overall I think it carries itself with a little mystery when seen out of context.

Maybe you'll get more flair when you see it over our BDH's heads or over Serenity herself?

It's all about color palet.

I'm 99.9% certain that it's by Geoffrey Mandel, the graphic artist for 'Serenity'. Remember the artwork that appeared on his website but was then taken down? That logo was included in it.

Yeah...... I thought it looked familiar - if you want to be 99.9% I'll at lease be .1%

Yes - this is correct.

The full URL for the logo is:

.html

The Firefly'ed logo on serenitymovie.com is only temp - the logo on display here is designed by Geoffrey Mandel, who is Serenity's graphic artist as suggested.

It's legit.

Also,

See here:

That's a photo from the set, obviously.

Check out the font on the clapper - it's the same.

Also, check out the Chinese writing to the left of Serenity - it's the same as the logo.

America loves a winner!

I like the original 'Firefly' font better, and yes, this is different, but I still like it. It works for me.

I like it. It emphasized a more oriental influence, which is part of the overall background that has been somewhat neglected so far.

I'm likin' it there on the clapper. The Chinese right before the capitalized Serenity in that font evokes a bit of the sci-fi of the 80's, like all the computer text and such in the Star Trek movies and in movies like Blade Runner. Or at least it does in me. I almost hope that's the font and style for the title. And before you attack the Trek reference, movies 2-4, and 6 were excellent. They were well done, and very crisp in their effects, especially considering the era in which the films were made. Take that, Leonard Nemoy's directing and the chemistry of the cast and you have for a good movie. Just like our beloved Firefly. An extended family of folk in a spaceship that's well written, well directed and well effected.

And that was sooooo off topic.

Thought you might like to know that I posted the link to the logo at Whedonesque yesterday and Joss posted a comment about it today:

http://whedonesque.com/?comments=5437#43609

"Yup, that's the logo -- for the film itself. I don't know what the adverts will use -- could be different. Depends on what feeling they're looking to evoke. Bye for now! "
