I'm still flying in 2021. How about you?

How about the old Superman tv show? Waaaaayyy too many to put on a six disc set.
Fantasy wise, I'd like a box set of all the busted tv pilots that have never seen the light of day.
Never commit Cop Rock to DVD!

'Haunted" huh?...never heard of it. I really enjoy Matthew Fox as an actor. I just found out he was on 'Party of Five' ( a show I watched in high school) as the older brother with long hair. That was a good show.

That 6 hour jam needs Edward Van Halen and Eric Clapton :)

Highlander movies completely redone in the "renegade" style. I love sci-fi as much as anybody but these should have stayed Fantasy.

GEEZER

Keep the Shiny side up

I'd like to have the episodes of the Bill Tush show that were broadcast back in 1980 on WTBS when it was a local Atlanta station rebroadcast on satellite. The cast included Jan Hooks, later of SNL and Designing Women, and Terry and Bonnie Tyler, who also wrote most of it.

My favorite bit was "Captain Space" with Tush as the Captain, Hooks as the "Ravishing Darla", "Tink Tanker, celestial engineer", and "The sometimes likeable, sometimes sinister Dr. Fooms". Costumed in shiny plastic weight loss suits and plastic milk cartons as helmets, they'd let loose some real groaners.

Capt. Space: "We'll have to crash land on the planet Frigidaire."
Darla: "Oh, no! We'll all be chilled!"

or

Capt. Space: "We're sinking in the Sea of Giant Plankton."
Darla: "Oh, no! We'll all be krilled!"

STARPILOTGRAINGER

For real stuff:
Buffy seasons 1-7
Angel Seasons 1-5
The Prisoner: The Complete Series
Nowhere Man, complete series (I dunno if there is a DVD collection of this)
Stargate, all seasons
Unbreakable
X-Men 1.5
Spider-Man 1 & 2
My So-Called Life complete series
The Princess Bride
Sliders, seasons 1-3 (after about halfway through season 3 it just sucked hard, but before that I enjoyed it)

For made up stuff, lets echo Firefly Seasons 1-7
Angel Season 6
Maybe a revised Angel Season 5, along the lines of http://www.livejournal.com/users/newnumber6/84399.html

MSCL Season Two to Four
An alternate Universe Sliders, season 3 and beyond (see
http://www.livejournal.com/users/newnumber6/59626.html ) for my own ideas on what it should have been

Hmmm... probably more, but that's all I can think of for now.

ROCKETJOCK

First, stuff that does exist, but can't be found:

1. COMMLINK FTL NEWSFEED: These were one-minute news updates from 150 years in the future that were broadcast daily on the Sci-Fi channel for 2-3 years; they were entertaining, satirical, and cleverly written, with story arcs that would develop slowly over weeks, months, even years! Some of the best SF ever broadcast, in my opinion, and not available in any format.

2. NEWCAST FROM THE PAST: FTL's opposite number, from some Texas PBS station in the mid-1980's. Each half-hour broadcast would pick a date from history, and present world news, complete with gratuitous location shots, and period commercials. {"Gunpowder! Because second best gets you dead!"}

Secondly, stuff that doesn't exist, at least not in this space-time continuum, but should:

1. John Ford's 1949 production of Kipling's The Man Who Would Be King starring Humphrey Bogart and John Wayne. Ford reportedly tried like hell for years, but could never get the two actor's schedules to synchronize.

2. Frank Capra's The Devil and Mr. Potter, an unproduced sequel to "It's a Wonderful Life." The plot was that Lucifer comes for Potter's soul, which is his because of the only actual crime the old miser ever committed -- the theft of that $5,000.00 that rightfully belonged to the Savings & Loan. Clarence intervenes, winning Potter 24 hours in which he has to recover the money. The catch is, just like George in the first film, everyone's memory of his existence has been erased, as if he'd never been born, forcing Potter to see what the world would be like without him. This film exists only as memories of a rough outline never further developed because the first film (like so many family classics) tanked at the box office on its original release.

3. The Marx Brothers in Horseback Salad Salvador Dali's unscripted (but heavily illustrated) concept for a film staring the famous trio.

4. Isaac Asimov's I, Robot, based on the script by Harlan Ellison. The script was published in Asimov's SF Magazine sometime in the 1990's, and would have made a much better film than the Will Smith version, whose only saving grace was Alan Tudyk's virtual performance.

5. Buckaro Banzai Versus The World Crime League. Enough Said.

RHYMEPHILE

We all know the complete Wonderfalls series is coming out on February 1, right? Complete, with the 9 produced but never-aired episodes. With commentary on 6 episodes with Caroline Dhavernas, a 23-minute featurette, and a music video.

I've also read Space: Above and Beyond is in the planning stages for a 2005 release.

And whoever mentioned V, the complete miniseries movies are available, as is the short-lived TV series that lasted a season.

But I would definitely love to have Brisco County Jr. and Profit. And American Gothic, because I love Gary Cole, and Lucas Black was fantastic in his role as Caleb. And Profit had Adrian Pasdar and Keith "Holtz" Szarabajka! Classic!

David Greenwalt, are you reading this? Go talk to someone about Profit, man!!

You guys need to keep an eye on TVShowsOnDVD.com for updates, and you can sign up and vote for the series you'd want on DVD. And if you sign up, they'll e-mail you if they hear when one of your shows could be released.

Psst... Wonderfalls *is* coming out on DVD. Amazon is currently accepting pre-orders. It was originally slated for a December 7th release, but was bumped back to February.

Me? I'd like to see MST3K packaged in full season sets, for reasonable prices. (Although it'll never happen, since they need the rights to the films used)

Also, Whose Line is it Anyway?

Thundercats (was my favorite cartoon series, but it's never been put out)

A collection of Oingo Boingo music videos (and while I'm at it, the uncut Farewell concert)

And several anime series, such as Hunter X Hunter.

As far as DVDs that DO exist I want -

All Buffy and Angel season sets

Farscape (thank TPTB for the Starburst editions.. it's finally affordable)

Babylon 5

Wonderfalls (like I said, it will exist soon)

Possibly Star Trek TNG and DS9. Haven't seen much of them, but they're decent. ;)

Monty Python

Complete Blackadder

More MST3K (but the sets only have 4 eps, and are too expensive)

The Soap season sets

Many of these I am planning to buy soon, others - such as Babylon 5, I'll add to my collection eventually. The Star Treks are just a minor interest in having, not sure I need to own them - and especially not seasons like TNGs first.

Roswell Conspiracies: Aliens, Myths, and Legends, the complete series. (Really cool American cartoon series, from 2000-2001, like a cross between X-Files, Buffy, and MiB. Seriously, this gem is screaming for a DVD release.)

Invasion America, the complete series. (The other really cool American SF cartoon.)

Gargoyles, S2 & S3. (S1 is already out, and I do want it, if only to give Buena Vista the impetus to release the next seasons.)

Babylon 5: Legend of the Rangers. (Even if only to rent; I just wanna see it, is that so frellin' wrong?!?)

Farscape: PeaceKeeper Wars. (Again, I just wanna see it.)

Just about anything animé, most notably Yukikaze, FLCL, Cowboy Bebop, Azumanga Daioh (shutup), Evangelion Platinum Edition, etc. . .

All thes animé titles exist, of course, I just don't have money.

Okay, what do I want? How about:

TV

A Bit of Fry & Laurie - all 4 series, complete with bonus features of their other collaborations (sketches that is, not all four series of Jeeves and Wooster).

Doctor Who - the complete series. Never going to happen (despite what Andrew says in Buffy) because the BBC, well, they burnt a lot of the episodes. Yeah.

Whose Line Is It Anyway? - both the US and the original British series. "I like Christmas dinner, I really, really do. I bumps up my cholesterol but I don't...." *clutches at chest and collapses*

Movies

Better editions of Batman (1989), Grosse Point Blank, Star Wars.

Just thought of this one: I'd like to see someone good make "Good Omens" into a movie with some great actors. Emphasis on the "good" and "great", not like what Hollywood normally does to comics and books. (I mean, cripes, did you read the screenplay for "Watchmen"?!? Guh...!)

well lets see.
Battletech
Exo-squad
x-men evolution season 3&4
Wheel of time
Crystal shard and the rest
a good Dungeons and dragons movie
Fray
Mechwarrior(a new and improved Battletech)
City of heroes
Shadowrun
the Honor Herington series
A new and good Star Trek
that should do for a start

As for the Starship Troopers fan. Look for Roughnecks: the starship trooper chronicles. Its from the people who did reboot. Kinda between the movie and the book. Tmurrie,Shadow raiders rocks.

Just two quick additions...

Robin Hood: Men in Tights - WHY is this not on DVD yet? I mean, according to Amazon not even being worked on)

Brotherhood of the Wolf, Collector's Edition - By the time I decided I wanted this movie, both the regular and collector's edition were not available on Amazon. The collector's edition is way too expensive, too.

"FOX! Where the shit hits the fans." - Tim Minear

Wow - thanks for the flashback - yes, I'd love to see this again. Jan Hooks as Darla, almost forgot about that. (We lived in Georgia from 1979-1983.)

Or a kind of fill your own dvd like they do with music cds. Your own personal "best of" - which could easily be used as you describe.

terry - who couldn't watch Sentinel even for Peter Wingfield...

This thread makes me sad - all the good stuff that isn't available when so much drek is sitting on the shelves of video stores.

My list of real stuff:

Hey Dude (an old Nickelodean show) just to see the look on my daughter's face when I gave it to her.

The Mickey Mouse Club (the Britney, Justin, Cristina version on the Disney channel) see above. I have such fond memories of that show. The one thing I could threaten to ground the girl from and it worked. [evil mom moment]

Belle and Sebastian - the French cartoon series. My husband even liked this one.

Hamlet - Branagh, the technology is here now! No more excuses.

Time Trax - okay, now it's clear that I have extremely eclectic taste (or none), this one is a guilty pleasure. Rewatching a tape recently, it's better than I remember but then, after years of reality tv, anything would be.

Maverick - the series (and a separate dvd, with lots of dish from James Garner on the legal issues or just lots of extra James Garner)

Kung Fu - where is my season 2 and 3?

Now and Again - may CBS rot in hell for not doing a tv movie to resolve the cliffhanger. (And does anyone have the book virus episode on vcd or tape?)

Which segues nicely into my fantasy list of TV movie sequels/dvds for the following shows:

Dark Angel

Highlander: Raven (Nick kicks Amanda's behind, with lots of Paris scenery in the background)

Quantum Leap - one where Sam makes it home!

Methos - the Watcher years?

B5 Crusade - the cure is found, does anyone care?

And finally, one I'll never get but would like anyway - a Miles Vorkosigan Mini-series

terry (who with the list above would never watch network tv again)

What a great thread!! :) There are so many things I'd love to have on DVD...

Jonathan Creek all seasons
(a great BBC detective show. Anthony Stewart Head was in a few episodes.)

La Femme Nikita all seasons

Ally McBeal all seasons
(how many people LOVED this show?? I can guess it's more popular than a lot of the shows recently out. But will they release it? No, of course not. Probably music issues. Barry White and all that. :( )

CSI
all seasons (none of the spinoffs, though)
Joan of Arcadia
Seasons 1-5

Witchblade
Season 1-5, where Sara and Gabriel hook up, Ian seperates himself from Irons and then Sara and Ian hook up.

Dune
the sci-fi channel mini-series.

The Darkness
seasons 1-5. It's a dream, and they'd probably mess it up, but, oh, how I'd love to see Jackie Escatado and the darklings on a regular basis

Uncorked

one of my favorite movies of ALL time, and apparently very hard to find on DVD

Oh, for those of you who want things on DVD that aren't out, go to www.TVshowsonDVD.com and sign up. At the least, you get information about releases you're interested in. At the most, you might affect the PTB's and get yourself a show you're dying for!!

Miles Vorkosigan ROCKS! But for all those books that I absoutely love...I wonder if a movie would be good for it. It could never be done the way you'd want it...

YT

the movie is not the Series. Only the facts have been changed, to irritate the innocent; the names of the actors and characters remain the same

Especially considering the only things on the other two discs are documentaries about the history, & a book that outlines the particular interpretation of history used in the film. Not a lot, and looked to me like it would easily fit on one more DVD (instead of two more).

Notwithstanding the above, the Collectors' edition is available from Amazon Canada http://www.amazon.ca , listing for $31.41 Cdn. This may look like a good deal, but you will pay taxes on it and, if you have it shipped out of Canada, you will also pay shipping, even if your order might otherwise qualify for free shipping. So, it will cost you @least $32 US. But this is a magnificent film. If I didn't already have the single-disc edition, it would be worth it to me.
