I remember the show having a very, VERY slow start, but once it got momentum there was no stopping it. It had the same crappy time slot as Firefly and everybody thought it was a deadbeat from the get go. Imagine FOXs mistake if they had decided to cancel that one!

I say give shows a chance to pick up followers. I hadn't seen Firefly until two Fridays ago and I think it is an excellent show! I was actually zapping through channels and I came across it by mistake.

That's step one.

Now for steps two, three, and four:

Step Two
Write Fox and the advertisers and tell them that.

Step Three
Make your friends watch it.

Step Four
Make your friends follow steps two through four.

That's exactly the type of thing Fox and its advertisers need to hear directly from you.

Also tell them what you like about the show, favorite episodes, fave characters, etc.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again I'm certain:

Go to www.fireflysupport.com and pick up all the things you need to bypass the Nielson ratings and bend the ear of Fox and their sponsors.

I think X-Files did have a crappy start. I was one of its early fans. Most everyone thought the premise was too wacky. Sound familiar?

I remember the X-Files. But does anybody remember it's spin-off The Lone Gunmen, or Brimstone, or The Invisible Man, or Farscape , or Dark Angel, or Twin Peaks, or Brisco County Jr. , Legend, Cleopatra 2525 or American Gothic? All these shows were also slow-starters, genre (either western or sci-fi or just plain ODD), had big fanbases and got cancelled ! ! within a season or a few seasons. It's good to like the show, it's better to, you know, Tell people how much you like the show, make sure Fox knows it, etc....especially because it's Fox, and it's Friday Night Fox (i need both hands to count all the cancelled Fox friday night shows ), and hey, even the original Star Trek, mother of all rabid fanbase sci-fi shows, got cancelled. So support is Gooooooooodddd. I'd really hate to get attatched to Firefly (too late) and then have it get cancelled on me, so I am showing all the support I can.

Commander Elka,
The bumpkiniest of the Bumpkin Army.

Wouldn't the Sci-fi channel pick it up? Or even UPN? I am like ELKA - already hooked to the darn thing and cannot wait for the character development (guess I am a humanist).

Dark Angel wasn't a slow starter! It had great ratings until fox moved it to fridays.

"Roswell" always had trouble getting viewers, too, although it was a greatshow with a dedicated fan base. It did kind of lose cohesiveness during its second season though, jumping from one story arc to another, dropping characters randomly, and the beginning of its third season was really horrible (although the final eight episodes made up for that). If "Firefly" makes it through even just half a season, I think it'll build up a decent audience. Pray for good ratings during sweeps!
