hey everyone. thought i would start a thread just for really random questions or just random musings that people have about firefly (or angel or buffy for that matter). perhaps someone will happen along and be able to answer it for you!

here are a few of mine:
1. how screwed would the crew have been if wash had not insisted on going with mal to make the deal for the medical supplies instead of zoe in "war stories"?

2. in terms of current day money, how much do you think things are worth in the firefly universe? mal gets 200 platinum (and a hole in his jacket) for the foodstuffs in "serenity" and simon mentions the cost for some of the random medicines in his medkit in "ariel".

3. what do you think the crew does during their free time? obviously, sometimes they play games together (like the weirdo basketball from "bushwhacked") but there is no indication that anyone reads or listens to music (or plays an instrument) or that there is any sort of television entertainment. even though the crew is probably quite busy keeping serenity flying, they must have some level of down time when they are not otherwise engaged (eating, sleeping etc).

SHAMBLEAU

For 3... Well, Kaylee listens to music. At least, she did at the end of Shindig. And though we've never seen Inara play anything, Companion training involves playing some kind of instrument, according to Nandi. Maybe Inara does it only for clients?

Kaylee spends whatever free time she isn't flirting with Simon in adding decorations to the kitchen area or tinkering with machinery.

The card games with not doing chores as the stakes are pretty ongoing, I'd suspect, as is the weight training for Book and Jayne.

Inara does calligraphy.

River draws, when she isn't tearing paper off of things like cans or bibles. I wonder if there's toilet paper scattered all over from time to time?

Jayne spends a lot of time in his bunk.

Mal cleans his gun, or puts his hand on his plough. Or are those the same things?

What do Wash and Zoe do? Wash and Zoe.
