The guy originaly hired to compose the Serenity score has been fired.

Now is the time for Firefly fans to rush to the blog and emails, discussion boards etc & get the word out to Joss and Universal and anyone else.

We want Greg Edmunson!

Joss will have to fight for him or else the producers will get some other schlock hollywood hack.

If you don't know or remember how critical Greg's score was to Firefly, watch the DVDs. The score was so great!!

Didn't Nathan even comment that he enjoyed the music so much that he played the whole DVD again, just for the score ?

I know for me, the music really was a big part of it. Out of Gas and The Message.

So sad, it's true.
Looks like the Reivers got Greg 2nd chance.

Still - guy that did Galaxy Quest - not a bad choice. I recall that the music for that was kind of spiffy, though his CV is mainly comedy.

Well, I always enjoyed the music from Toy Story, and still laugh at that song 'Short People',regardless of how politically incorrect it was.

Galaxy Quest was a fun movie, but the music was uninspired Hollywood typical movie stuff.

Greg's music was original, transcendent in many instances and rarely fit any mold. His music was inspired by Joss' vision and his love for the characters and his passion for the concept, especially the melding of cultures. Greg was brilliant in his creative use of live performers and indiginous musical instruments.

His passion for the whole thing won't be matched by anyone even if his crative musical abilites are.

Just asking…how did they know Simon was a doctor?

Aint It Cool said that his new theme for River brought tears to Joss's eyes.

I guess that could be good or bad.

Run to the Tower, and call out the Magus
If he has caused this, we'll tear out his pages
Throw him in shackles, AND REMOVE HIS HANDS!

Wouldn't disagree - but I can see the studio's point of view, that they want someone with a proven movie track record, because of the way the system works - forget the fact that TV music may be done on a crushing timescale, but movie scores seem to be divvied up between only a few people.

I hope Greg gets his shot somewhere down the line, but the movie probably came too soon for him to get the gig (would have thunk I might ever say that?)
