Even though I wasn't there due to the very simple fact that Vancouver is not located in Sweden (damn these plate tectonics, gotta relocate Sweden), this is just something that I gotta tell you about. It's just so amazingly sweet. A few Fireflyfans in the Vancouver area had a meet up and was doing whatever you're doing at such an event. And guess who shows up out of the blue? Our very own Jewel Staite!
I mean, how cool and amazingly sweet is that! How many celebrities outhere do you think would do something like that? She's just too adorable for words and she should be a role model for all of Hollywood. I just hope the fans didn't scare her too much but Browncoats in general seems to be pretty together. America loves a winner!

Awesome! Just had to bring this up again, about Jewel at DragonCon. She had already shown up for the panels and talked to tons of folks afterward. So on the last night of DC, she's due to perform in small theatrical show. There's one last small Serenity class room event, at 7pm, Sun nite. We had been told that Jewel 'might' stop by, but given it was the last day, she had this performance still to do, it was understandable if she couldn't make it. Not only does she show up ( with Hubby Matt in tow) , she stays to the end and even beyond to meet and get pics taken w/ fans.

Yep, Jewel is good people.

That would be a restraunt. This is a pic from the Firefly Meetup group in Vancouver. There was a thread here in "General" where Jewel had mentioned in her latest blog that she had heard of the Vancouver meetup group and wanted to hang out w/ them. Looks like she made it out there this past Saturday.

really good to see someone who cares so much about it and not just cashes her check and moves on without looking back. but then, somehow i expected her to do this when she mentioned it in her.. how to call it? blog? mail? site? anyway, i think it is becoming more and more obvious to me that our bdh have their fans for who/how they are much more than for the roles they played ,-)
