For some reason unknown to me whevever I click on the 'threads that have been archived' link my computer does some very funny stuff. It doesn't load the page and when I try to do ctrl+alt+del it says Firefox isn't responding and then won't close it.

Has this happened to anyone else?

When I think of an interesting signature you'll be the first to know.

Aramina:

Still having problems? I just tried it and it loads fine, although it does take the better part of 30 seconds on my 3.2 Mbps cable connection. I use Firefox v.1.0.

Sometimes shutting down and doing a cold reboot can inexplicably fix problems; what I call the computer getting a 'code bone' stuck in its throat...

the movie is not the Series. Only the facts have been changed, to irritate the innocent; the names of the actors and characters remain the same

The archive for General Discussions takes a few to several minutes to load over my dialup connection. I use IE 6.0.2900.2180

Yah, that part of the site can really use some sort of paging mechanism/algorithm... That would also bring some relieve for loading those heinously long threads.

Maybe separate archives by year?

That's solvable by folks contributing to the thread. Start a new one, referencing the old one, then go back & add a post to the old thread to link new readers to the new thread.

Good idea and it'd solve part of the problem. A paging mechanims would guarantee that you would never have the problem of a lengthy list. Not that much harder to do really.

hmmm... good workaround, but we should make technology work for us especially on something so trivial and a problem that has been solved again and again in other systems and settings. Besides, cutting it up like that makes discontinuous conversation that doesn't do well to facilitate the conversation and maintaining context.

Um, "technology" sounds an awful lot like "Haken". Or do you also help with design & maintenance of this board?
Maybe we should move this over to the Fff.n Central forum.

Well... Haken only has to do the work once. He could also open up the code and I'm more than sure folks would contribute...

But like I said, Haken only has to do the work once. The technology would do the rest of the heavy and repetitive lifting...

I apologize for cluttering this thread, but wutzon was composed by a homey, Jeff Healey, & this version is about as good as his own, or Little Feat's.
