OK, I know this has probably been said a zillion times already, but why don't they just get on with it? And don't you just want to strangle Shepherd Book when he walks in and stops Kaylee and Simon kissing? And when Simon opens his big mouth and says something stupid like 'You're literally the only girl in the world...' dearie me. And when Mal thinks Inara kissed Saffron/Yolande/whatever and not him! Aargh! Ok, I've had my little rant. You can ignore me if you want but I'm sure you agree.
P.S. I wouldn't really strangle a shepherd.

Well, d'uh! Of course we agree (well, I agree)- especially with the Simon/Kaylee/Book debacle (I preferred the Simon-Kaylee storyline to Mal & Inara anyway. coz they were just so darned cute together!).

Fingers crossed the film will go someway to resolve these matters...

I definitely agree with you on this one. Kaylee and Simon should be together. They are such a gorram cute couple! I, too, had the urge to strangle the Shepherd. However, I would also like to note that I would never actually do so. I'm sure that's a sin that automatically grants your admission to an extra special hell.

As for Mal and Inara, I'd like to see them together, but I sort of like watching them dance around each other. All I ask is that by movie 3, they both have finally done some action that they both remember doing. That isn't too much to ask, is it?

I cannot wait to see Serenity. Maybe one of these hair-pulling situations will be cleared up. If not, there's always hoping it will happen in the second movie.

I think the Mal-Inara relationship is more like Mulder/Scully or Maddy & David in Moonlighting - it's more interesting because of the sexual tension but could be spoiled of they actually got together.

I kinda agree with you there Mal/Inara-wise. It would also be sort of impossible for her to keep her job if something serious did happen, which would be certasin to get in the way of a few things. However I did hear somewhere that a few things are getting cleared up in the film, 'certain relatonships' as well as River and the Reavers.

If you want to read about what I think about the whole Simon and Kaylee thing, go to the archives. As for me, I don't feel like rehashing old arguments, especially when the most likely senario in the movies doesn't jive with how I rate the survivability of these couples. I think that I've just been dating for too long and can spot a doomed relationship a million miles off but then again, the writers will do whatever they and Joss want and could write them into long happy lives together filled with many fat children just to throw off the fans who've followed his couples since Buffy. Joss's couples have a bad track record on "happily forever after."

Back then people on the board had long conversations about the couples on Serenity.

REGINAROADIE

I'm more eager to see Kaylee and Simon kiss sooner than Mal and Inara. With M and I, there is an established relationship, they both know what the parameters are, and seeing them dance around is more intriguing and exciting than if they did become a happy couple.

But with Simon and Kaylee, it's more urgent. Of all the chracters on the show, Simon is the one I identify with the most. Despite the fact that he looks like a refugee from the WB, he's just like any other young man entering the real world for the first time. And his relationship with Kaylee is like the first girlfriend any guy has. He' attracted to her, he fucks up, but there's still that possibility of getting it right, which is inheriant of every guy in a new relationship.

Also, there's a more mythological pinning to the relationship. If Mal is the Han Solo of the group, Simon is most definitly Luke Skywalker. You know that shot in the trailer when he releases and explodes that sonic bomb above River and he's kneeled down? That's Joseph Campbell mythology right there. He's essentially on a quest. And Kaylee is part of that quest. Another important aspect of his internal and external journey. So whether or not him and Kaylee kiss has more urgency than Mal and Inara.
