This weekend, my friends and I went to go see Hitchiker's Guide and the BDM trailer on the big screen! Since that was half the reason to go, we called ahead to the theatre to make sure that the trailer was on the film, and which screenings it would be on.

This gave me an idea! What if we all call around to local theatres and ask -nicely- if the trailer is on Hitchiker's at each one and what screens it's attached to. If nothing else it would at least get the theatres talking about people checking on a trialer. Which could up promotion of the movie at their individual thatres around the country?

Interestingly enough when I called our theatre, the girl wasn't surprised at all that I was asking. So maybe other people have been doing it already just for information's sake!

Yep. Since I don't really have any interest in seeing Hitchhiker's Guide, I'm definitely going to call first to make sure the trailer is playing.

I did notice that HG was #1 at the box office this weekend. I'd like to think that was at least partially due to all the Browncoats going to see the trailer.

Errr... I don't think people going to see the trailer will have had that much of an impact (for a start, it didn't play on many showings).

I do know a lot of people (well, probably a few hundred at least) have been phoning their cinemas to find out when the trailer was playing.

YT

the movie is not the Series. Only the facts have been changed, to irritate the innocent; the names of the actors and characters remain the same

Asking can have an effect. While sellouts make great headlines, a more significant factor in total box office take is number of screens. Universal may want to open Serenity on 3000 screens, but it isn't up to them -- it's up to the cinema owners. If we ask for our BDTrailer, the person manning the phone might mention to their manager "Hey, we gotta get this movie when it comes out". If the manager hears that often enough, he might say to the area buyer "I'll go with the recommendations on the rest but, there's a lot of interest in Serenity @my location"

Keep the Shiny Side Up . . . (wutzon) Gov't Mule, "Driving Rain", from "Deepest End - Live In Concert"

Exactly. I was soo excited, and ready to cheer! But then it wasn't there. Its the only reason me and my mate went to see that film. Then after all that, I didn't even like it.

Lets hope the trailer will be with SW Ep |||

Summer Glau to me - "You are so photogenic."
