I know that it would be good to see Serenity before November 10, but I would rather Universal picked a date that works best for the marketing of the movie rather than a date that suits us impatient fans.

We need time for ‘Serenity’s positive word of mouth to filter across from the America to Australia and September 30 to November 10 would seem like that appropriate time period. November 10 is a good date and if Serenity gets strong word of mouth it might even coast into the Christmas holiday period and make a very respectable profit.

On October 29 Universal is releasing the high profile Sci-Fi action film 'Doom' which will no doubt have a Serenity trailer attached to it. Two weeks later on November 10 'Serenity' is released with the only competition being 'Bee Season' and 'The Cave', (which is little or no competition). One week later on November 17 'Legend of Zorro' is released which is a film that should scare off most competition, yet hopefully not be a film that will swamp 'Serenity’ at the Box Office.

Personally, I think that November 10 is a better release date than any date in October or even September 29. Also, keep in mind that Universal is not going to change the release date just to make a few fans happy, there has to be a logical reason for them to go to the trouble of changing the date (i.e. will it make the film more successful?).

I don’t think we should second guess Universals marketing strategy without a very good reason.
