Check it out here!

Again with the emails and letters Browncoats!!

Since Universal and SciFi are affiliated let's let them know we love Firefly and we love SciFi for being so good to Browncoats and showing it.

I wonder if they'll repeat a marathon on the 30th of September, the Serenity 'Versary? That'd be pretty shiny, maybe when we write to say thanks we also remind them of the upcoming anniversary and suggest such a thing.

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

I just noticed that myself and was about to post the news. I check their schedule regularly and I know that this was a recent change. Currently you can see what their daily schedule is through October, but they obviously made a change in just the last couple of days. I had been regularly typing Firefly in the search window but it had been coming up as "no result found for given criteria," but now it's there. However, September 18 is the only listing they have for it at the moment, that is unless they make another change without notice.

I just sent them an email telling them the Browncoats will make sure they get a tremendous viewer boost on the 18th, and that we would give full support to new Firefly episodes as well.

Actually DarkJester according to ECGordon I think over on the Browncoat Board, he's been running a search of the SciFi channel looking for it. Nothing yesterday when he cast his search out in the future. Today, yes. So they've altered their schedule. It's anybody's guess why. But this is just wonderful timing and also a great opportunity to promote the 'Verse and also write SciFi and thank them and ask them for new Firefly.

They had a show cancel and needed filler (Actually they couldn't get the whole show they wanted)

Again, Bonnie Hammer is to thank for this one, and please DO SO. Let her hear from YOU ALL (Especially the Women Folks PLEASE)... Ms. Hammer is dedicated to bring more Women on-board with Sci-fi, which Browncoats have convinced her can be done with Firefly/Serenity.. (Read previous posts on the subject for What Ms. Hammer Likes/dislikes.. we need to continue to play to that). http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=20&t=23584&m=372772#372772
(Bottom of that page, right now.. subject to change postions)

Ladies, it looks like We're counting on YOU to let Ms. Hammer know that Women are Watching... We need to CONVINCE her that FF can be MORE than just a "Filler" by making SURE she knows how many Female Browncoats will be watching!

As I said about Dragon*Con, Universal and Sci-Fi WERE watching! And Universal is MORE than willing... actually WANTING... to hear about it...

So we need to get the Rest of the FF/Serenity/Browncoat forum leaders to get their people writing LETTERS (Paper letters, someone Suggest "Brown Paper", which is good, but we need to use HEAVY WHITE envelopes so they don't get Shuffled aside and "Sorted" simply because of the brown Envelope) On TWO fronts now.. One for the Show starting the 18th, another for the Movie Anniversary on the 30th!

Keep 'em short, and to the point.. Remember that only the first few lines will usually get read (skimmed actually), so two or three Paragraphs made up of just a few short sentences is best

First Point: "THANKS" (As a female/male that is planning on watching the show, or DID watch the show.. depending on the timing of your letter)

Second Point: A LITTLE about you, Occupation, age group, gender (again), etc.. Point being "We have disposable income, and we spend it when we see things we like advertised while watching SHOWS that we like". This also helps Her see how far off Neilsen is against what her mail shows.. Remember, For every Fan that Writes, they assume another percentage DIDN'T write, So your letter is assumed by the network to carry the weight of several hundred!

Third Point: Closing, again with thanks and THANKING HER FOR GETTING MORE WOMEN INVOLVED IN SCI-FI BY SHOWING FF! (This is what her goal is for Sci-Fi, so let's PIN POINT it).

Universal is testing the waters, so let's make sure the Water is Fine.. Smooth the road folks, smooth the road...

Awww man, I just wanna give those guys over at Scifi a big Browncoat hug. I know of so many people who've pleaded SciFi to at least show Firefly to gain veiwership, and it looks like they listened! Shiny!

We'll keep it up there, Miraculous....

This is a grand opportunity to make our voices heard again too. We can email them and I was also intrigued with the idea of sending them letters too.

Much like Kurya I think we probably have enough on our plate writing to Universal for the 'Versary, but if folks would like to write a letter and say thanks and we'd watch more if you made it to SciFi, that'd be shiny.

Would someone like to post the proper snail mail addy to do that to?

I'll add the email addy to it and then we'll edit the top post to have both.

INTERL0PER

I sent an email to feedback@scifi.com, their general comments address. I don't do letter-writing in general, but this series *SO* deserves to return to television, thus increasing the intelligence/fun quotient by several points above the "reality" noise-level. I encourage all Browncoats to do the same (thanks, FollowMal, my virtual browncoat fits like a glove!). If you are interested in what I wrote (and if anyone has further suggestions, please let us know), here it is:

The fan community is already buzzing about the "Firefly" marathon coming September 18th. Your promotion of the motion picture "Serenity" from the same universe and previous marathons of the series are very much appreciated. With the "Serenity 'Versary" approaching on the 30th, fans have been very active in the last several months getting the word out about this highly entertaining franchise; my own "Firefly" conversion is typical judging by the flurry of recent activity in the online "Firefly" community. At the recent DragonCon fantasy/sci-fi event in Atlanta, "Firefly" fandom was heavily represented - and the numbers keep growing! We are gobbling up DVD's, games, collectibles, and any other "Firefly"-related merchandise we can get our hands on. You can count on our household to tune-in for the Marathon all day long - and for any future "Firefly" productions! We fans believe in this series, and promote it by word-of-mouth and with our pocketbooks; and this support would of course be extended to any new projects which included the "Firefly" setting and creative staff. Thanks again for your time and for more "Firefly"!

I'm planning on adding that I'm going to TIVO the shows to view during the 'Versary Celebration because my box set is always in use.

Thanks, Bad2Verse, for the suggestions on how to get our message across.

11THHOUR

For anyone who is interested, I've made some "special edition" guerilla marketing posters which announce the upcoming Firefly marathon on the Sci-Fi Channel. It's a good way to introduce people to the 'Verse in addition to the DVDs.

Here's an image of the mini poster sheet:

Each of the "mini" posters on this sheet are also available as separate letter size posters... and those can be enlarged to 11" x 17" if'n ya got the paper, the copy machine, and the gumption... heh...

Let's spread the word and help more folks discover that the heart of a browncoat beats in their chest.

11th Hour

P.S.
The link to my guerilla marketing poster website is in my signature. Also read further down on the webpage, there's LOTS of great ideas on how to use the posters!

WOOT!

I was hoping you'd make us some with the new dates on them, 11th! Thank you!

I hang the bigger ones in my office and waiting area of my business in the week before the marathon. I hand out one of the smaller ones to each customer as they leave.

There's just all manner of shiny things that you can do with 11th Hour's posters and mini posters to promote the 'verse.
