June was a great month. Lots of folks preordered the Serenity Collector's Edition, and/or passed the word about it's pending release in August. Can't Stop The Serenity was a huge success. exceeding their goal of $100,000 for Equality Now. Congratulations to all involved, from the Volunteers to those who attended, and even those who helped spread the word about it.

A lot of the projects that were planned for July have changed, because of the early success of the "awareness" of the Collector's Edition. Most large Retailers will indeed be carrying the BDCE, at least on the Internet. On the local level, it's still a good idea to go to your local retailers and find out if they're going to carry it. But the larger chains, for the most part, will have it.

Public Awareness is still lacking, and thats where Guerilla Marketing comes in.

Universal HD Channel has announced that Firefly will be shown as a weekly Series starting July 28th, and The Sci/Fi Channel will be showing a Firefly Marathon from 8am to 4pm on August 10th. Please feel free to explore these sites when you go look at the Banners. A lot of nice people there, and they are excellent sites.

These Banners can be used on the Internet of course, but they also make great flyers and the Banners in particular make great Bookmarks. Bookstores (especially those that sell dvds), coffee houses and Libraries are all great places to leave these bookmarks.

Time for me to start thinking of all the ways I can gift the BDCE.

Time to hit my local stores and suggest that they carry it, time to make sure my letters and emails are in order.

Hera and I were talking the other day and we're so excited to hear the commentary and see what goodies are on this!

Time to set my DVR and make plans to watch the marathon on SciFi.

I wish I got the HD Channel, I'd love to see Firefly in HD!

I'm also going to make a committment to hit the new UNI board and check it out.
They seem really nice over there and a lot of my friends from here are already over there.

I checked with my cable provider because I'm greedy ( what can I say? *shrugs*) and want to see the HD eps on UniHD and was able to put in a word for adding it to my cable lineup.

I also sat down last night and composed an email to send to my family and friends when it comes time for the release of the CE. I want them to be aware it's available and also what we as Browncoats have been busy doing this year.

So I am going to mention the screenings and the DVD's floating in space up there on the space station. I'm going to mention the Dragon Con march and the Browncoat Ball and Cruise. I'm going to encourage them to buy a copy of our wondrous movie and check it out for themselves.

I'm proud of this fandom, proud to be a part of it, and want others to have the chance to have the fun we have.

Besides I wanted to think of a way to have a real world impact on the sales and on other peoples lives...posting and talking about it here is preaching to the choir. Like your encouragement of guerilla marketing bookmarks - I was trying to think of ways that got the message to people who may not know a thing about Firefly or Serenity.

Anyone else got any ideas about how we can do that?

I've ordered the Serenity Collector's edition on principle, since I have no idea how it differs from the first DVD. I bet it's been discussed here though, and I missed it because I only check in every now and then. Would someone be able to tell me what else is on this edition? Likewise, I'd happily order a few more sets of the Firefly series if a new edition with more commentaries or other type goodies were to come out. Anybody know if that is planned?

I don't have the link handy to the Uni site or the other various posts about it. But some of the shiny new things are...

New Artwork (No llamas)

Cast Commentary featuring Joss, Nathan, Ron, Adam and (Yay!) Summer.

Most of the extras that were on the Australian Special Edition (wish it included the collector's tin, but alas...)

The River Tam Sessions, and...

The Special that Sci/Fi Channel ran just before the film was released.

-Mind you, that's in addition to what's already on the original dvd. This will be a TWO dvd set.

I believe Anonymous1 posted a list of Advertisers the last time skiffy had a Marathon. This is a fine idea, as long as we get someone to make note of the Advertisers!
