Blind leading the blind? Dead men (and dolls) walking?

I could probably go on with several more cliches. The unfortunately truth is that the canceled and even more rating deficient 'Prison Break' will serve as a lead-in for the struggling 'Dollhouse' this Friday.

If this isn't a death sentence for 'Dollhouse' then I don't know what is.

Can someone give me good news?

The good news is I just saved a lot of money on my car insurance by switching to Geico.

Well, at the rate things are heading south, 'Dollhouse' needs Geico's Kash to give it some economic stimulus.

Unfortunately I can't. I knew this wasn't going to be a good lead in. I've been watching Prison Break since the brilliant S1. The show was supposed to only last 2 seasons (and the first two are great) but Fox dragged it out because it's a money maker, pretty much killing all love and semblance of the original premise. Now we're in S4 and everyone pretty much just wants it to be over so we can have closure and move on. It's gotten that bad.

Hopefully Dollhouse with have slightly higher numbers than DOA Prison Break (which had a horrible episode last week) because I fear Fox doesn't have the sense to see the night and the lead in are in fact affecting the show.

Actually, the creators planned to go three seasons: one in prison, one on the run, one in another prison.

"Dragging it out" had to do with a number of factors, not the least of which was the writers' strike, which influence MANY network decisions for renewal/cancellation. Without the writers strike, there are a number of on-the-bubble shows from last year that would have been cancelled (Those of you who enjoyed a second season of THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES can likely thank the strike for that, in part).

The networks held on to any modestly-successful shows (which is the category PRISON BREAK fell into), so I wouldn't necessarily blame FOX for grasping for money. ALL the networks were looking for security. Heck, if the writers' strike were THIS year, we'd probably be getting another dose of DOLLHOUSE next year.

While it has definitely moved away from the original concept, I though much of this year has been enjoyable.

But then, I love a good heist, and enjoyed MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE. Plot aside, it's a great cast of characters, and I love that they were able to force them all to work together, outrageous as it may be.

It's pretty silly for anyone (FOX or Whedon alike) to think that PRISON BREAK is going to "save" DOLLHOUSE in any way. If DOLLHOUSE's ratings drop with PRISON BREAK as a lead-in, that's actually DOLLHOUSE's fault (because it essentially means that it was benefitting from folks who didn't change the channel after TSCC).

I suspect that DOLLHOUSE's future will be determined by whether it's cheaper to produce than the next show FOX is looking to cancel.
