i brought the blu ray a while ago for like 35-40 from a uk seller on ebay, but his store is no longer up, and a friend would like to buy the blu ray to, so does anyone know somewhere uk based where firefly can be brought for a similar price? because if item is from usa, then is a chance of a big old customs fee

Firefly isn't available in the UK on Blu-ray.
The one you got must have been a US (or whatever) release and just sold in the UK. As the discs are region free they'll play perfectly fine over here on standard Blu-ray players.

In regards to ordering it from the US I would say go for it and don't worry about the customs tax. I've ordered plenty over the years and have only paid tax about 3 or 4 times. You only get taxed if the item is worth more than a certain amount. It used to be about £18 but as it's down to the Post Office to collect the money then unless it's an expensive item they don't usually bother as it's too much hassle for them.
I checked and Amazon.com have the set for about $25 which makes it about the £18-ish area. It would be highly unlikely for you to pay tax on this and if you did it would only be a few quid.
If you wait for it over here and it did finally appear it would undoubtedly be a price of at least £25, if not more, so it would still work out cheaper to get the US version and you'd only have to wait 1-2 weeks.

Go for it.

thanks, but i actually work for uk mail(royal mail)and say there is a customs charge of a few pounds, royal mail automatically puts on a 8 pound handling fee for "presenting the item to customs" eg holding it for them, unpackaging, repackaging, re-sorting it for delivery again, paperwork etc. it has really put me off ordering from abroad

yeh, sorry if i wasn't clear, the blu ray was in the uk, was an american seller who purchased, but had already got item over to uk, so no risk of customs charge.
