not to fret!

Was it just me who thought the mention of Serenity was a little nod to us Browncoats?

Castle's mother asked him if he knew the Serenity (some sort of acting spa/hotel thing) and the camera kind of lingers on his face at that point. I chuckled and took it as a pleasant little nod. Anyone else?

I noticed it, too, and laughed when I heard it.

I almost wish they'd done something more with it...but it might not have worked, I guess.

the movie is not the Series. Only the facts have been changed, to irritate the innocent; the names of the actors and characters remain the same

Yes, I was actually a sergeant.

I like the episode of Castle where he speaks Chinese ... and tells here that he learned from ... just a TV show I used a love!

That is awesome. I don't entirely buy the "You better run" line as a Firefly nod, though. Yeah, he did yell that at Saffron, but it's not exactly the most original line in the show; I'm sure many other shows have used something similar. I don't know that I entirely buy the "Shiny" line, either. It's so prevalent in Firefly that hearing it anywhere is bound to be a reminder of the show, but it is a word in fairly common usage. Still, some fantastic bits in there. The "space cowboy" costume is still by far the most blatant, and by far my favorite.

[Post attempt #2. Possibly not as good as #1.]

I read the thread title before I saw the ep on Hulu.

When Castle was being walked through the plastic, quarantine tunnel, I thought that was the Firefly reference. It looked like the docking tube thing from "Bushwacked".

Yep, they said 'serenity' a lot.

Ohh! Half-ass Firefly spin off idea: Serenity Spa & Cruise - It'd be like The Love Boat, but in space, and with more crime!

My other random thoughts on "Setup":

-Hey, the murder victim's wife(?) was the court clerk that got hit by a bus on Day Break.

-Castle and Becketts' cell phones better not be able to work inside that container, 'cause that would be waaay too easy. Science be damned!

-I love cliffhangers best when I know the show will return.

-Adrian Pasdar's character IS a total douche. But he plays it very well.

-Was the dead guy in the container the guy who ran the taxi company? (looked it up - Yes.) I thought he would be a suspect. Though, being in that container means he was involved somehow.

I think it was how he said the line that made it a shout out. Maybe.

Looks like I'll have to go another round with the DVDs. Oh darn.

Damn, this show's awesome!

OLDGUY

What Would Mal do ?

watched part 2 last night...[spoiler alert]

gotta say that while the plot was well enough done, I was disapointed that once again they took the hollywood libertard path and decided that the peace loving Islamists were in fact good people and it was our beloved soldiers that were warped and bent on destruction. How many scripts are going to play that game before it becomes more than obvious?!

I was also hoping for some McGyver moment in the cooler and if not, then some more cuddle time talk to wrap up the season of love between these two.

A good movie grade 2 parter all around..just tired of the Napalitano mindset that terror will come from our best of the best with honors..rather than the truth.

Yeah, that was disappointing. Then again, it could have been worse. For a while I was afraid they would have the DHS guy involved in the plot as well.

What was really too much was a Syrian diplomat as Mister Good Guy. Syria has been a police state and home base for terrorists (of all sorts) for nearly fifty years. Maybe that plot angle was a paid product placement?

I don't think so, since he was screaming it at the top of his lungs as Saffron flew away in the shuttle, and muttering it mostly under his breath after Beckett.

Nope. Scary Arab US citizens framed by Pentagon soldiers in a false bomb attack on NY City...

Where have we heard that before?
