Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

I've been having problems with the site for a couple of weeks now, and it's very frustrating. Things I list, with a return at the end of each line, come out as one paragraph. For example:

1. Massachusetts
2. Maryland
3. Colorado
4. Connecticut
5. Vermont
6. New Jersey
7. Virginia
8. New Hampshire
9. New York
10. Minnesota

I'm on the Beta site, which I really love and switched to ages ago, and there, that comes out

Also, quotes don't close consistently. Sometimes I have to put in a second "close quotes" symbol to make it work, sometimes just an extra return...same for italics.

Are these things fixable, or is it a problem with my computer or something? If I can't fix 'em, I'm going to have to go back to the old "blue" site, which I hate to do, but I'm really tired of posting something, then going back in and spending ages "cleaning it up", when it was fine when I either typed it out in Word first OR typed it in the post itself! Very weird, very frustrating...

As for the quote thing, you'll need to send me a link so that I can test it out.

I do apologize for the problem. I've been making tweaks lately to the back end and that might have broken something.

Yes! It's FIXED in the above post, you miracle worker you! That's been very frustrating, and I couldn't figure out WHY it kept happening.

The quote thing, I might be able to duplicate it here (because I always go back and FIX it in my posts). Let's see...

Okay, I closed the quotes. Nope, damn, it worked. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't--sometimes when it doesn't work, if I go back in and add a second "close quotes" then when I post, it comes up with double close quotes!

Let's see if I can copy/paste one of my posts where I know it went wrong:

That didn't work either. Okay, I "un-fixed" one that just happened to me at http://beta.fireflyfans.net/mthread.aspx?bid=18&tid=55663&mid=
942886#942886. I tried to copy/paste it here, but it WORKED here...go figger. So after the first couple of paragraphs, which are in quotes, "An obviously asinine remark" shouldn't be part of the quote. But in Beta, it is, and the ending "]" is in "quote colors" as well.

To fix it, I add a second "close quotes" on the blank line directly above "An obviously asinine remark"; without that, the quote doesn't close.

Still having problems closing quotes. Sometimes they close, sometimes it takes two "close quotes" to close them. Help?
