Haken, I've got a problem with E-mail notification!

My problem is that when I post and eventually get a reply, I don't get notified! I'm pretty sure that I'm not checking the box that says override notification, so is it me, the site, or people that just don't like me!

This is really a question for HAKEN, but anyone else who can respond is welcome to it.

P.S. This has been happening for the last few months!

Unfortunatly it is still happening to me! I'm not sure WHY, all of the sudden one day I reply to a post and when the person replied back I got no notification, and it's still happening to this day!

It's still happening to me, I let it go for a while figuring that either it would work itself out or that Haken was trying to fix the site, so I let it go, not wanting to worry Haken with minor details. However, I can't wait any longer, it would be nice to be notified when someone responds to me.

Yes, I believe a few others have had the same problem, though, their problems don't seem to be as presistant as mine. I can assure you that I have not unchecked the "Notify me when someone responds to my comment" option, I really haven't paid attention to those options checkboxes.

Not that it is what's happening to you, but have you looked into the possibility that a spam blocker is intercepting the notifications? It has been one of the cause in the past.

Greetings, oh great Haken! I, too, am now having the notification issue. I do not have a spam blocker in place. I can send and receive regular email, but I am not receiving the notifications. I do not mess with the buttons at the bottom of the respond screen. This is the first time this has happened to me, and I have been on this site since April of this year. It's not really a major issue, but I do use the notification to find out who has responded to what. Thank you for your time.

I hate to add my voice to the chorus, but I'm having the same problem. I didn't realize it until today when I discovered I had some responses in threads and I never received e-mail notification. This has never happened to me before, as far as I know.

im glad im not the only with this problem, its good to know im not hallucinating. how do you know if you have a spam blocker? i dont think i have one, i get junk mail all the time and some of that stuff is freaky freaky.

plus i have the "notify" address as a contact in my email options. before i check my mail i have a notice i got my mail from my contacts, which always brings a big damn smile to my face. :biggrin:

Ahoy, Haken. Thank you for running this wonderful boat. I mean "board."

I've stopped getting notifications ~Aug. 18 or 19. Now Aug. 20, & there were no "notifies" in my in-box. May mean nobody wants to tell me anything, or may be a board symptom. Before coming here this evening I put notify@fireflyfans.net into my address book so Webmail spamblocker wouldn't sweep it up.

I never un-check the "notify" box under Options farther down on the message form.

Will add to this if anything changes.

ETA: Test message below did not result in a "notify" in my Webmail in-box. (snif...) bun

My email notification stopped on 9/2/06 (last notification was 9/1/06 8:06pm EST). I've never had an issue like this before, so I figured to try to eliminate possible suspects (which is what I do at work before calling in IT). To check, my email has a web mail service as well as dial-up. Two days ago I turned of it's spam filter and checked it online as opposed to downloading it from the server as usual. No notification there, either even though folks have been responding to my posts, and some of these posts were using quotes as well, so I know that I should have gotten something on those. This eliminated both my ISP and McAfee as possible culprits, unless, of course, the notifications are coming up as viral. Then I just throw up my hands and go "ACK!" Actually, I'm doing that anyway: ACK! HELP!!

Do you have a way to check your email via the web rather than it downloading from the server? If so, try checking there to see if your notifications are there, because it's not just spam block that can futz it up; your anti-virus can, too. (The last time I had Norton, it decided that ALL of my email was far too risky to look at and so were all web sites, including Norton's homepage. *sigh*) In other words, have you upgraded/changed your anti-virus or firewall? That may be the culprit.

If you are indeed responding to me, as I think you are. My E-mail comes to me through my Excite homepage. I have lowered the spam blocker on that account, and I've noticed A LOT of spam coming through, but no FFF.net notifications. I don't think my Norton Anti Virus software is the culprit, I have just updated it, and never had a problem in the past. I still haven't lowered my Firewall protection, 'cause frankly I'm scared to. So, I have NO idea what's up!
