Finally got a chance to watch the live-action version of Space Battleship Yamato (aka Star Blazers in the U.S.), and it was well worth the wait!
Considering that pretty much ALL the live-action Sci-Fi I've seen from Japan features a guy in a rubber suit stomping a miniature recreation of Tokyo, this was by far the most impressive production I've seen from the Land of the Rising Sun! The set design alone trumps a whole lot of Sci-Fi productions from the West.

Compare the 1974 original...

You can sorta tell the production team are fans of nuBSG, huh?

Err, WHERE did you get to see this ?
I've been drooling over it before it even hit theatres in Japan, waiting ever so impatiently for someone, anyone, to air it over here, subbed, dubbed, whatever....

Cause I WANTS it, oh yesssss.

J-list is selling the two disk blu-ray as an import for $75. Seems steep and it may not have English sub or dub.

Lets just say it was from an 'alternative source' online.
