I had forgotten that our Agent McGinnis (Blake Robbins) was also in Wind River. His role is Tim Winter.

Does your library have it yet?

Sorry, I didn't see this before JSF. I must have put a hold on it but I haven't got word yet. There must be a line for it.

At my libraries they can tell me how far down on the list I am. On Thanksgiving there was a hold list of 48 people at one branch.

Well, I took a look at my local library's webpage and it said there are 34peole waiting. So I am somewhere on that list.

I am wondering if you will watch a 2nd time after reading the Discussion thread.

I've had a whole thread "disappeared" from this site. I have my suspicions, but, in the long run, it's really not that important..........because, deep down I know that person (or persons) will go straight to hell, if they haven't already.

.....to that "Special Hell"

BWAH, HA, HA!

I thought it a very good film. But it is possible I am enamored of Elizabeth Olsen. The setting is Wyoming.

Don't know that name but I do like Tantoo Cardinal and Graham Greene. Should be beautiful being set in Wyoming.

Lots of snow. You could make yourself to home.

And Jeremy Renner does a very good job of not showboating, just playing the roles straight, solid, down-to-earth. Except when he must be a superhero.

I just noticed that all of Brenda's posts have been deleted from this thread. Does anybody know what's going on with that?

Are posts from others also deleted?

I just noticed the director Sheridan has created the show Yellowstone, which has cast at least 3 players (Kelsey, Gil, Tokala) from Wind River, plus Angela from Bones.
Yellowstone seems to be a TV miniseries.

I have not yet watched the films of Kelsey Asbelle, but I am tempted to do so.

I might tackle it again after I get my hearing aids. I was missing some of the dialogue.

But really not sure. Nice of the writers to give whoever that guy was who was helping the Fed an Arapaho ex-wife, forgetting that half of the real Wind River reservation is occupied by the Shoshone.

Also typical Fed walking on to a reservation and expecting it to operate like the rest of the outside world. Graham Greene's character was surprised at even getting sniff of help. But then reservation land is Federal land and so that explains that.

The writer went looking for statistics on missing Native American women and couldn't find any.

There is a big difference between Canada and the US. At least in Canada the RCMP and others try to keep statistics on missing First Nations women and girls.

This movie rankled me as it proves once again that we don't count.

I will also add that I was very glad when that tracker let the main ba$tard die like the young woman. A fitting end to his miserable life.

Is it accurate that the rest of Wind River is Arapaho?

Does RCMP have authority over First Nations, or do they need to wait for Tribal Police to provide the information?

The Fed was out of her depth and was responding on short notice. Everybody else was working to set her straight, if she would listen.

I believe the writer-director was intentionally paying tribute to the lost women, and exposing the tragedy.

I liked how Greene and Olsen negotiated and navigated the boundaries and interaction, as well as the Fish & Wildlife Service guy engaging with both.

I felt it fitting when he let Martin know that nobody was missing, at the end.

Martin and Natalie are both in Yellowstone as well.

The subtitles seemed to work well.

I have known about that for years. But you can google it JSF as it is verifiable. Just look up Wind River reservation and it will tell you that half is Shoshone (mine) and the other is Arapaho.

Reservation land in Canada is Federal land and they can I think go onto it if called or looking for evidence of a crime. But not all tribes in Canada have a police force. I had to look this information up. One place in BC does. There are 3 in Alberta, 1 in Saskatchewan, 1 in Manitoba, in Ontario there is one First Nations police force for the whole province, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, NWT(Northwest Territories), Nunavut, Newfoundland, Quebec there is one for the Cree, EEPF which covers a good portion of that province then 4 other forces, Yukon as well. Also there are programs in the cities for First Nations who live off the reserve.

I know she was but you can still haul a laptop and do a little research on a plane flight. So, I will not give her a pass.

The writer was and I applaud them for doing it. It would seem to be a subject that needs to be discussed.

Yellowstone is an upcoming TV miniseries.

Watching Wind River again, I am reminded that FBI Jane was not even supposed to hang around past the autopsy. She only stayed because the murder would not be solved without her, and everybody knew it.

For scriptwriters, a character is needed who must have everything explained to them. Often this is some newbie person in a unit, office, work or clich or partnership. They must exist for much of the story background to be explained to the audience without getting preachy or teachy. Jane fills in that role for some of this. So she needs to know not much more than us.

So Tribal Police in Canada track and disclose missing women information? Or RCMP does?

I still really enjoy this film, the best of last year I think.
I don't recall how many times I've seen it, but it's still quite powerful. Very difficult to stop watching it.

I also keep forgetting the producer was Peter Berg. Following his work is rewarding.

The DVD has his scene, "Sounds Like Wolves" and you'll recognize his voice right off.

Well without tv, I don't know what is coming or not.

I know that and I figured that FBI Jane was written as low man on the totem pole at her Nevada office which is why she was assigned to trek out to Wyoming.

Missing persons are reported to Tribal police who investigate what they can and if they need more help, reach out to the RCMP or the nearest police detachment. Missing persons like in the US can fall under Federal and as such a country wide announcement can be made which the RCMP usually do. This is why RCMP have fairly good statistics on missing First Nations women in Canada.
