I would normally say that I believe that The Little Mermaid is going to do a lot better than the people on YouTube say it's going to do, but the fact that Cleopatra has a 2% audience score and a 16% critic score on RT makes me wonder. Of course the critics are still claiming that people are review bombing the woke trash (and that they're all Raci-Sexi-phobes), but in the same breath none of them seem to think it's any good at all. They're usually circling the wagons around garbage like that and giving it 80 and 90% scores.

TLM comes out in less than 2 weeks, and may have a larger negative impact from the Cleopatra blowback than it would normally get.

Everybody in the Legacy Media is saying it's going to make a Billion dollars worldwide. And while I wouldn't ever dream that it would be a bomb like Strange World or even the lesser extent of a bomb like Lightyear was, I'll be happy if it makes zero money for Disney and they break even. Anything worse than that for Disney would just be icing on the cake and a real message to them that everybody, including the normies, are done with their shit.

Why would anybody pay to see a free movie?

The number 1 biggest movie in US theaters right now is: The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023)

But that movie is free at

Ruh Roh...

Little Mermaid makes only $10,300,000 in Thursday night previews.

I thought this was going to be a BILLION DOLLAR MOVIE!!!??????

Let's look at other Disney movies that didn't make a billion dollars and what their Thursday night previews looked like.

Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness / WW Box Office: $952,224,986 / Preview Thursday: $36,000,000

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever / WW Box Office: $854,041,058 / Preview Thursday: $28,000,000

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 / WW Box Office: $671,967,479 / Preview Thursday: $17.5 Million

Antman and the Wasp: Quantumania / WW Box Office: $463,534,963 / Preview Thursday: $17.5 Million

The Eternals / WW Box Office: $401,731,759 / Preview Thursday: $9,500,000

Lightyear / WW Box Office: $218,768,299 / Preview Thursday: $5.2 Million

Strange World / WW Box Office: $69,579,689 / Preview Thursday: $800k

This piece of diversity hire shit is going to get Eternals numbers... if it's lucky.

My prediction is that this makes less than $400 Million worldwide when it is out of theaters.

According to Variety Magazine:

Quote:

“The Little Mermaid” had a budget close to $250 million, which grew because of unexpected COVID-related production delays and health and safety costs, so it will need to resonate across the globe to turn a profit.

They easily spent that much on marketing this piece of shit, with a rumored $10 Million spent alone advertising it at the Oscars.

If it only makes $400 Million worldwide, it's not even going to make the investment back.

Turns out that TLM is going to be shown in several countries that The Eternals wasn't shown in, with China being on that list. So it's going to make more than The Eternals made.

China may reject it though. The Chinese (generally speaking) don't like black people and Hollywood knows this and is doing their best to hide the fact Ariel is black on the movie poster, although that's harder to do than what they did to Finn and Black Panther when she's the main character and doesn't wear a mask.

But boy, they sure tried their damnedest, didn't they?

Apparently normie Americans didn't get the memo that Ariel is black now. They'll figure that out soon.

China did, and wasn't fooled by the marketing. It only made $550,000 in China on Friday.

It's doing "swimmingly" on the domestic end, Bruce?

Quote:

screenrant.com on May 5th, 2023:

If any 2023 movie is almost guaranteed to join the billion-dollar club, it's the live-action remake of The Little Mermaid.

...

Regardless of quality, almost every “live-action” Disney movie has far surpassed the billion-dollar mark, whether it's Aladdin or The Lion King, both of which are rated "rotten" on Rotten Tomatoes.

Quote:

Opening the same weekend as Top Gun: Maverick last year, this is the pick for this summer's biggest film. Really all you have to do is look at how much the live-action remakes of the other Disney Renaissance-era films have made:

The Lion King (2019)- $543 million
Beauty and The Beast (2017)- $504 million
Aladdin (2019)- $356 million

All three animated films are beloved and grossed over $1 billion each worldwide. Arguably, The Little Mermaid is the favorite out of all of them. Throw in controversies galore, a huge groundswell of online support that may actually matter for once, and a talented young star primed for a huge breakout, and you have all the makings of a huge, huge hit. The biggest of the summer, I think.

Arguably indeed.

This bitch ain't even going to come close to a BILLION. It is NOT doing swimmingly, domestic or otherwise.

Speaking of which...

Quote:

The international numbers are more worrying. Mexico is the film’s biggest market to date, but it is expected to open with only $8.5 million there. The United Kingdom, where it’s headed to $6.3 million on debut, is the only other country where it is earning more than $5 million on opening weekend. Its international total of $68 million so far still gives it a shot at $500 million or $600 million worldwide. In comparison, Aladdin picked up $121 million from international territories on its opening weekend, which helped propel it to a final total of over $1 billion.

EVERYBODY hates it.

Fuck you Disney.

You had a ballooned $250,000,000 production budget for this piece of woke trash nobody wanted to see, and we all know you spent WAY over that marketing it. We know you're going to count a 4 day holiday weekend to make the numbers sound better than they actually were, but you only made $163,800,000 on opening weekend worldwide.

Pay your media to say whatever you want, but we know that you're going to lose money on this one too.

LEARN YOUR FUCKING LESSON OR GO BANKRUPT.

So what? It's all about making money AFTER costs. Here's the production budgets of each of these movies, and their worldwide gross and 2023 Worldwide Place.

1 The Super Mario Bros. Movie / Budget: $100,000,000 / WG: $1,276,707,000 / Place: 1
2 Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 / Budget: $250,000,000 / WG: $731,025,817 / Place: 2
3 Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania / Budget: $200,000,000 / WG: $463,592,963 / Place: 6
4 John Wick: Chapter 4 / Budget: $100,000,000 / WG: $428,066,877 / Place: 7
5 Creed III / Budget: $75,000,000 / WG: $272,376,798 / Place: 8
6 Scream VI / Budget: $35,000,000 / WG: $168,834,132 / Place: 12*
7 Fast X / Budget: $340,000,000 / WG: $507,261,000 / Place: 5
8 The Little Mermaid / Budget: $250,000,000 / WG: $163,800,000 / Place: 13*
9 M3GAN / Budget: $12,000,000 / WG: $176,833,606 / Place: 11*
10 Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves / Budget: $150,000,000 / WG: $207,954,502 / Place: 10

https://www.the-numbers.com/box-office-records/worldwide/all-movies/cu
mulative/released-in-2023

*M3GAN is left off of the top worldwide grossing movies on Bruce's list, when it should be at 11th place with $176,833,606. This pushes everyone else past it one further down the list than he has them at right now.

Winners and losers on that list:

Winners:

1. M3GAN made more than 14.5 times its production budget of $12 Million.
2. Super Mario Bros Movie made nearly 13 times its production budget of $100 Million.
3. Scream IV made more than 4.5 times its production budget of $35 Million.
4. John Wick made more than 4 times its production budget of $100 Million.
5. Creed 3 made nearly 3.5 times its production budget of $75 Million.
6. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 made nearly 3 times its production budget of $250 Million.
7. Ant Man and the Wasp: Quantumania just barely made 2 times its production budget of $200 Million.

Losers* (The movies who didn't double their production budget to cover marketing budgets and theater takes):

1. The Little Mermaid only made 65% of its $250,000,000 production budget.
2. Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves only made 172% of its $150,000,000 production budget.
3. Fast X only made 167% of its $340,000,000 production budget.

*As of right now, D&D is the only guaranteed loser on the top 10 list because its run is dead and it will not make money back for its investors.

The lesson for Disney, besides firing all the woke staff, is to learn that its GUARANTEED BILLION DOLLAR MOVIE days are over. M3GAN only had a $12 Million budget and will likely end up being the 2nd most profitable movie of 2023 for its investors when Super Mario's theater run is over.

They've got to stop spending over $200 Million on every movie they make unless they want to start making things that people want to see again.

It's one thing to look at The Little Mermaid as a huge win by saying it's 8th place Domestic and 13th place Worldwide for 2023 after its first weekend, but when a movie only makes 65% of its production budget worldwide on its first weekend its doomed to lose money in the end after real world accounting is factored in. If the movie had cost $50 Million to make, it would have already been a winner.

Do you remember your obsession with Top Gun Maverick? I do: http://fireflyfans.net/mthread.aspx?bid=36&tid=60492&mid=11744
77#1174477

Top Gun was made by Paramount, owned by Paramount Global, owned by National Amusements, owned by two people named Redstone. Paramount Global is not completely owned by the Redstones, so it does have a stock price. Looking at that stock market price for the last 5 years and you would conclude that the Redstones should stop making movies: https://www.google.com/finance/quote/PARAA:NASDAQ?authuser=0&windo
w=5Y

But the Redstones don't close Paramount and fire all the woke California employees because their private company that owns Paramount has other things going, as does Disney. Also, the Redstones are crazy, as was their father, Sumner. I think somebody could make a TV show about a fictionalized Redstone business dynasty.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Amusements
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sumner_Redstone

P.S. Those high production budgets at Disney are mostly money going to people who work at Disney, moving money from one pocket to another in the same pair of pants. Disney has good reasons to keep production budgets as high as possible, not low as possible.

With that level of spin, I'd suggest that you should be a paid shill movie critic, but ChatGPT will be doing their jobs soon.

In any event, what you're suggesting is that Disney continue partaking in Securities Fraud. It's already in hot water for lying to investors about the state of Disney+, and Disney has a lot of eyes on it right now. I would suggest they don't play those games anymore if that is indeed what they're doing.

From the very beginning, the movie industry was infamous for inflating budgets to put money into the bank accounts of studio favorites and, also, because it lowers corporate taxes. Maybe the Anti-Woke Club won't see the movie, but it is doing as well as its competition:

No. It's not.

First off, it's been a very lousy year for movies so far, particularly for Disney... so that comment isn't even saying much if it were true.

Here's another list for you, because you are stupid.

Worldwide Opening Weekend and percentage of Production Budget made on opening weekend including all American made films in the global top 30:

1 The Super Mario Bros. Movie / Budget: $100,000,000 / WWO: $377,000,000 / 377%
2 M3GAN / Budget: $12,000,000 / WWO: $45,000,000 / 375%
3 Evil Dead Rise / Budget: $19,000,000 / WWO: $40,000,000 / 210%
4 Scream VI / Budget: $35,000,000 / WWO: $67,000,000 / 191%
5 John Wick: Chapter 4 / Budget: $100,000,000 / WWO: $138,000,000 / 138%
6 Creed III / Budget: $75,000,000 / WWO: $100,000,000 / 133%
7 Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania / Budget: $200,000,000 / WWO: $250,000,000 / 125%
8 Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 / Budget: $250,000,000 / WWO: $290,000,000 / 116%
9 Knock at the Cabin / Budget: $20,000,000 / WWO: $21,000,000 / 105%
10 Jesus Revolution / Budget: $15,000,000 / WWO: $15,000,000 / 100%
11 Fast X / Budget: $340,000,000 / WWO: $319,000,000 / 94%
12 Cocaine Bear / Budget: $35,000,000 / WWO: $28,000,000 / 80%
13 The Little Mermaid / Budget: $250,000,000 / WWO: $164,000,000 / 66%
14 Shazam: Fury of the Gods / Budget: $125,000,000 / WWO: $66,000,000 / 53%
15 Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves / Budget: $150,000,000 / WWO: $72,000,000 / 48%
16 AIR / Budget: $70,000,000 / WWO: $30,000,000 / 43%

The Little Mermaid is hanging out with all the flops. The only ones even remotely close to it that will succeed will do so because they had reasonable budgets.

In 21 weeks so far, The Little Mermaid places 10th for the highest grossing film in Australian Cinema for 2023. That's Middle of the Road.

And 4 of the weeks where a movie pulled in more money than The Little Mermaid's opening weekend in Australia in 2023 were movies in their 2nd or even 3rd week of release.

That's Pathetic. Even Down Under.

Why don't you let this one go, Second. EVERYBODY hates The Little Mermaid and it will end up costing Disney money.

Not enough “kink” in a kid’s movie: how is that even allowed to be published for a once-revered publication like The Times? In this day and age, it’s (sadly) become the norm.

Morris wrote in his review: ‘The new, live-action ‘The Little Mermaid’ is everything nobody should want in a movie: dutiful and defensive, yet desperate for approval. It reeks of obligation and noble intentions.

“Joy, fun, mystery, risk, flavor, kink — they’re missing.”

Democrats are child rapists..

There is a "kinky" scene from the cartoon version that is missing from the live-action. The sea worms, mermaids transformed into worms by the Sea Witch, are warning Ariel to stay away or else she will become like them. Also missing from the live-action version of The Little Mermaid is the kinky transformation of the sea worms back into mermaids after Ariel murders the Sea Witch with a wood pole rammed into the Sea Witch. Joss Whedon got the idea of how to murder Wash in the movie Serenity from The Little Mermaid.

The "kinky" moral lesson for children was that if you accept the fat, ugly, old, and constantly lying Sea Witch into your life you will then be transformed into a sea worm. The real-life "kinky" moral lesson for adults is that if you accept the slim, beautiful, young, and always truthful Donald Trump into your life you will be transformed into a Trumptard.

A worm wraps around Ariel's wrist to try and stop her from entering Ursula's cave.

6ix, like all angry white trash Americans, you are a fuck up. If you owned a dictionary, look the word up:
1 · closely twisted or curled ;
2 · relating to, having, or appealing to unconventional tastes, especially in sex ;
3 · outlandish, far-out.

Since you are an angry white-trash Trump lover, obviously you are going immediately to the stupidest interpretation. That is why your life became a burning trash dump fire. You are always pouring water onto that fire, after letting it burn for years, but pretty soon another fire will break out in another part of your trash dump life. May I suggest that you let the fire burn until it consumes you, runs out of fuel, and leaves a lingering stench to commemorate your passing to hell?

Boy... Disney really has a stranglehold on the theater chains in this country. It's still got the widest release this weekend over Black Spider Man 2 even though it's only predicted to make around $33 Million this weekend domestic.

The Little Mermaid 2023 will fail because the scene where the Chef gets his teeth knocked out is NOT in the movie! (6ixStringJack, who lost most of his teeth, would understand how pivotal that scene is to the success of the Disney cartoon from 1989)

The teeth knocked out scene starts at 3 minutes into the video:

Where I live in East Texas the Trumptards believe that having healthy teeth is Wokeness. They go to the dentist mainly to have rotten teeth extracted. Or they pull the teeth themselves. Not unrelated to why I have a conflict with all Trumptards, I have all my teeth, including the wisdom teeth, while a Texas Trumptard's parents typically neglected their children's teeth.

Bruce's prediction for the weekend was a bit more of a modest lost at only 57% for $41,300,00, where publications yesterday morning were predicting a drop to only $33 Million.

I'm going to hold off on a prediction who was right there. Everybody who wanted to see it has already seen it. Weekend 2 will be repeat views. How badly do they want The Message to succeed?

Will they buy a 2nd ticket this weekend or opt to watch the other woke trash flick that comes out today starring some black dude impersonating Spider-Man and has a flag up in Gwen's room that says "PROTECT TRANS KIDS", and a #BLM pin on the back of black not-Spider-Man's backpack.

69% drop on its 2nd Friday. The Little Mermaid is toast.

Looks like a lot more people went to see black-not-Spider-Man than they expected. It was predicted to make about $100 Million for its opening weekend, but it's already made more than half of that just on Friday night alone.

Wrong.

First off, it's the 5th highest. Top Gun: Maverick is the HIGHEST.

Ticket prices are also 30% more expensive than they were before the Democrat's Plandemic and the horrible Biden* administration and the financial pain they've inflicted on the world.

There was a 60% drop on weekend 2 domestically, and nobody is even watching it internationally.

They expected another billion dollar live-action hit on their hands and they're not even going to make $500 Million when its out of theaters. They will lose at least $100 Million on this woke turd of a movie, if not $200 or $300 Million.

https://www.boxofficemojo.com/showdown/sd1245509124/
MOVIE TITLE / WORLDWIDE GROSS / PRODUCTION BUDGET
The Lion King Remake - $1,656,943,394 / $260,000,000
Beauty and the Beast Remake - $1,263,521,126 / $160,000,000
Aladdin Remake - $1,050,693,953 / $183,000,000
Alice in Wonderland Remake - $1,025,467,110 / $200,000,000
The Jungle Book Remake - $966,550,600 / $175,000,000

The Little Mermaid - ? / $250,000,000

The Little Mermaid doesn't even crack $500 Million, and that's with a 30% increase in ticket prices over any of these other live action cash grabs.

The only movie that cost more to make on the list was The Lion King, but only by $10 Million and that grossed more than 3 times what The Little Mermaid will gross.

8th place and still a financial failure. Industry insider says it needs to make $700 to $800 Million to break even.

Good thing Disney had Avatar 2 to make up for all of its other huge losses so far this year.

When is Avatar 3 coming out?

Maybe Indiana Jones 5 will keep Disney above water until then?

I can tell that you believe Disney lives or dies by movie ticket sales, but Content Sales/Licensing and Other represents only 11% of Disney’s revenue. The segment includes the following operations: theatrical distribution; home entertainment distribution, such as DVD and Blu-ray; music distribution; staging and licensing of live entertainment events on Broadway and around the world; post-production services through Industrial Light & Magic and Skywalker Sound; and a 30% ownership interest in Tata Sky Ltd., an India-based operator of a direct-to-home satellite distribution platform.

Revenue from the division at Disney that makes movies, sells DVD and Blu-ray is only 11% of Disney's total revenue. What percent of Operating Income is that division? Zero. 0.0%, NOTHING. The movies make NO OPERATING INCOME for Disney. And yet Disney continues on.

I'm not going to reply to your dumbassery again in detail, since you've already brought that up and I've already refuted it other than to say that Disney is failing on ALL fronts right now, including and most importantly at its theme parks.

When you're that big, you can afford to lose in one area by sacrificing it to your agenda, but only for so long before you've damaged your entire brand.

Disney is finding out the hard way what we all were telling them for years.

Disney is one more front in your time-wasting culture war because you have no worthwhile purpose in life. You know that is true. I know it is true because I live around people identical to you who cannot understand why their lives are hard and unfulfilling and what life means. Hint: it is NOT to worship "God" and obey his laws. Nor is it to obey Trump. (Putin in Russia.) Nor is it to get high.

You are a simple minded fool who's judgements mean nothing.

I'm glad I can say that I don't know anybody like you in real life. I have to give the real-life you the benefit of the doubt and think that you're not really the person you pretend to be on these boards, because that person would be wholly evil and self-serving without any ability to provide anything for himself or others and only able to survive by stealing anything they can get their hands on.

I hope for the sake of anybody unfortunate enough to be within your sphere of influence that I'm right about that.

The biggest movie right now at theaters is also available for free download. 6ix, you don't take "free" into consideration as to why Disney sells fewer movie tickets, do you? Especially when you lost your dinky mind while on a culture war rampage against Disney.

No shit they're both available for free. You keep turning Haken's site into a pirate paradise with pirate links because you have no respect for Haken.

Movies have been available for free to the masses online since the early 2000s, and even earlier than that to tech savvy people with good internet connections before the internet became mainstream and dumbed down to the point that half-wit asshole like you could use it.

Top Gun was available for free and still made nearly $1.5 Billion worldwide. Avatar 2 was available for free and made $2.3 Billion worldwide.

Both The Little Mermaid and the new Miles Morales movie are available for free, yet one of them is wiping the floor with the other one currently, and will make money for the company despite online pirates like you.

Don't be disingenuous. Disney's movies aren't the only movies available for free online, yet they're the only monster budget flicks in the last 2 years that are constantly losing money for the company that puts them out.

It has nothing to do with online piracy, and even less than nothing to do with Trump.

I've heard the same about "disrespecting" god (or Haken) by saying goddamn as if god gives a goddamn. Oh, and "piracy" does not work the way you think it does, but you are a moron and will continue thinking a moron's thoughts upsetting your tiny mind.

Disney is in trouble when Scott Mendelson is turning on them.

Why ‘Little Mermaid’ May Mark the End of Disney’s Remake Factory Hits | Analysis

https://www.thewrap.com/disney-remake-little-mermaid-moana-frozen/

Quote:

The well is running dry for the company’s Renaissance-era movies and there’s doubt more recent successes like ”Moana“ and ”Frozen“ will perform.

When Bob Iger took over Walt Disney again, one of his first moves was to reassure Wall Street that more sequels and remakes were coming. Disney has a lot in its vault, and remaking animated classics as live-action movies is widely seen as a safe strategy, with built-in audiences for familiar fare.

That strategy is coming into question, though, as weak international box office numbers for “The Little Mermaid” trickle in. The live-action remake of the 1989 film grossed $95 million in its Friday-Sunday North American debut, but just $68 million overseas. For comparison, star power fueled the 2019 “Aladdin” remake with Will Smith and 2017’s “Beauty and the Beast” with Emma Watson, both of which earned more than $1 billion, mostly overseas.

Get fucked, groomers.

The argument that Second used to defend Disney when I predicted Lightyear would bomb and he said "it wasn't made for me" was that the S&P 500 was also down and that they go up and down together. I thoroughly debunked that at the time, but let's have a little update in June of 2023, shall we?

Disney's peak price (March 12th, 2021) - $197.16

S&P 500 on March 12th, 2021 - $3,943.31

Disney's price today (June 7th, 2023) - $92.52

S&P 500 today (June 7th, 2023) - $4,267.52

Disney is DOWN $104.64 from its peak on March 12, 2021 or -53.07%

S&P 500 is UP $324.21 from March 12, 2021 or +8.22%

Disney's financials have deteriorated over the last five years, with its streaming service Disney+ experiencing negative margins and increased competition.

Former CEO Bob Iger is returning to implement cost-cutting measures and improve profitability, but the company's intrinsic value is still estimated at $56.69, implying a 38.5% downside from the current valuation.

DIS' management needs to improve efficiency and create shareholder value, but new investors should be cautious due to negative sentiment and potential market volatility.

There's a rumor going around that Disney is trying to sell the Star Wars brand back to George Lucas after completely destroying it too.

I hope he gets it for less than a Billion and really sticks it to them.

China’s backlash against Little Mermaid exposes Hollywood bind

Taipei, Taiwan – Hollywood has a China problem.

The world’s second-largest economy has become one of the biggest markets for big-budget Hollywood films, but a racially-charged backlash against Disney’s The Little Mermaid is just the latest example of the price film studios can pay if they offend Chinese sensibilities.

Chinese state media and netizens have condemned the casting of Halle Bailey, who is Black, as Princess Ariel – echoing some people in the United States who have expressed anger that the Atlanta-born actress does not resemble the light-skinned character of the 1989 animated film or the 1837 fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen.

In an op-ed last month, The Global Times, an English-language Chinese tabloid known for its nationalistic coverage, accused Disney of turning “classic tales into ‘sacrificial lambs’ for political correctness” by casting non-white actors in classic tales.

“When the beautiful stories that have accompanied countless children’s childhoods become arenas for racial conflict, they lose their meaning and become devoid of romance and fantasy, replaced by arguments about skin colour,” said the tabloid, insisting that such casting controversies were not driven by racism but “lazy and irresponsible storytelling”.

The blowback – much of it overtly racist – has also played out among ordinary Chinese film-goers online.

On social media platforms such as Sina Weibo, some users have criticised Bailey’s appearance and her Black facial features.

Other Chinese commentators online left more positive reviews, with a poster on the film site Mayoan saying that Bailey’s appearance made little difference to children and she represented Princess Ariel’s most essential character trait – a brave spirit – well.

While China does not have the same racial history or politics as the US, audiences are still sensitive to how race is portrayed in Hollywood films, said Chinese-born YouTuber Yao Zhang, who follows Chinese and Taiwanese news and culture from Canada.

Traditional Chinese beauty standards emphasise pale skin and large round eyes, Zhang said, and some viewers – and government officials – want to see Chinese values reflected on the screen.

“There’s no correct way of looking at [the film in the US],” Zhang told Al Jazeera. “But in China, there is 100 percent a correct way to understand it.”

Zhang compared the backlash to the public’s reaction to supermodel Lu Yan, whose small eyes and high cheekbones were deemed unattractive in China but gained her renown in the West – although some Chinese bloggers claimed Lu’s success was a Western ploy to make China look bad by elevating “ugly” women.
