Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, “Born To Run” (April 10, 2009)
Sometimes, it’s good for a show to end on a cliffhanger because there’s no way the show’s producers could have lived up to the imaginations of their viewers. The second season of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles featured increasingly assured storytelling, a psychosexy (or just plain psycho, in the case of Garret Dillahunt’s John Henry) series of artificial intelligences, and above all, a John Connor that could potentially lead the human race in the future. Imagine the shock when the show simply sent him there, apparently way ahead of schedule, in the show’s closing moments. It was shocking, it was probably desperate, but it all made a sort of mad sense. That moment leaves us to think about just how fast young John had to grow up. Had John instantly teleported back to present day, it would have been cheap; had he stayed, the show’s shoestring budget might have cheapened the future drama. As it stands, the action can always play out in the unlimited budget of our mind’s eye.

That was a shocking cliffhanger indeed.
There is little to nothing we know about TSCC season 3 as planed by Josh Friedman; as you said, all we can do is speculate and write fan fictions or CGI continuation of TSCC. It will never be what Friedman had in mind but the fans have proved in fan fictions they have great ideas.
What i want to point out in that finale is the driving force behind John's decision to go to the future : it's the loss of Cameron and the desire to get her back. "Mom, he's got her chip, he's got her".
The face of John Connor when he realises that the girl he sees behind his father looks like Cameron but is not is priceless.

It was one of the few moments in tv that got me sad, other being the ending of the rose as a maj companion for doctor who, BOTH season endings for Dark Angel, ending for FIREFLY, 10th doctors departure from DW. What i really love is the irony in this ending, the man destined to destroy all things machine, falling in love and risking everything for a.......machine.

What Would Mal do ?

see... I had a mix of "he's in love" with the question throughout the series of whether john could or had become the warrior leader...if he meant that her chip now held all the knowledge of who he was, his way of thinking, his plans, etc and that knowledge had been kept safe in her programming under his control, but now it could be sifted and used against him in the future, then he had to go get the chip...not a pursuit for his love, but for the survival of all he knew. I could swallow that potential in the character at the moment as well just as equally as young John leaving his mother to cleave to his bride...either way..the newly created timeline of him jumping forward and the potential for a relationship with the human Cameron was a rocking ending that I'm glad they were able to squeeze in before the cancellation.

Nah, Anonymouse...there's no plans for S3. What was meant was we've heard tidbits and talk from Josh Friedman and Thomas Dekker and Brian Austin Green about stuff they were thinking on doing but couldn't.

I've seen the series 3 or 4 times now. Just finished watching it on blue ray.

When I saw it during the original run, I wuznt very impressed with most episodez. It seemed very TVish and short on ideas. I wuz expecting an evil twin episode at any time! The worse thing wuz Saraz linez. It wuz az if the riterz didnt like Lena Heady. Her threats against Cameron, Derek and otherz were just stupid.

But every time I watch it, I like it better!
