At the end of "Ariel" Simon gives River that shot that will hopefully help her. My question is, because Fox has shuffled the broadcast order of the episodes, have we seen any episodes so far that were filmed after "Ariel"? I'm just wondering whether we've had any hint as to how the mediciation may have affected River?

Ariel was filmed (and takes place) after all the other eps. So we don't know what happens next.

Is the "correct"/original order posted somewhere? Can someone tell me what Josh's original intended order of the episodes was?

Correct order:

1. Serenity (pilot to air 12/20)
2. The Train Job
3. Bushwhacked
4. Shindig
5. Safe
6. Our Mrs. Reynolds
7. Jaynestown
8. Out of Gas
9. Ariel
10. War Stories (12/6)
11. Heart of Gold (12/13)

12. "Objects in Space"--sometime in early January, I reckon.

As we all know, FOX messed up the order of Firefly real bad. From what I understand and from what the DVD set of Firefly is saying, this is the episode order:

1. Serenity: Parts 1 and 2 (this was the pilot (first episode) but it never aired until the end of the season because FOX is really stupid )

2. The Train Job (this was the episode that aired as the pilot but it was supposed to be the second episode)

3. Bushwhacked

4. Shindig

5. Safe

6. Our Mrs. Reynolds

7. Jaynestown

8. Out of Gas

9. Ariel

10. War Stories

11. Trash (but this was never aired at all)

12. The Message (but this was never aired at all)

13. Heart of Gold (but this was never aired at all)

14. Objects in Space

This is the order the episodes are in on the DVD set and I have been told that that is the order they were supposed to be in. There is also a never-aired and never-finished episode called Dead or Alive around but I dont know where that fits in. So there are five episodes that come after Ariel but only two aired on TV.

From what I understand from Objects in Space, Simon is continuing to give River new medicine but he does not know what will work or what wont work. We know this because, after River picks up a gun in Objects in Space, Mal says to Simon that he thought she was getting better and Simon says someting about the medicine haveing different affects on her. So she seems to be getting a little better but River still has a long way to go.

This is what I think. Sorry if I am wrong.
^-^

Actually, according to the commentary by Whedon and Minear, it's not at all clear that this would be the second episode. They wrote it over a weekend after Fox demanded a new pilot.. at one point Tim asks Joss if Fox hadn't made that request, would they still have told the story (in the episode) and Joss wasn't really solid on whether they would have or not.

But that is what Im saying. Serenity was supposed to be the first episode and when Fox (I hate Fox) said they wanted a new episode, they used this one. Oh! I get it! I did not realize that Train Job was not supposed to be the second episode. Sorry! My mistake! Does that mean Bushwacked was supposed to be the second episode? Oh well. The point is that Fox is very very stupid. Can we all agree on that? ^-^

The correct chronological order of the episodes has been restored on the DVD's. "Why we still talking about this?"

Bushwhacked didn't exist at the time. See, all they had was a pilot. The network looks at the pilot to see if they want to order more episodes. If they do, then more episodes are written and made. If they don't, well.. then they never are.

Fox looked at Serenity and said, we want to see a different script. 1 hour.. not two. By monday morning. So they wrote Train Job. Fox liked that more and said make it. And ordered a dozen episodes.

since both Serenity and Train Job get referenced later on, I think it's important to keep them in the "beginning" order.

I've just finished watching the DVD set in the order given and it makes perfect sense to me the way things are.

Yeah, the dvd order does make sense.

With my deepest and most sincere apologies to The Simpson's (Best TV Show Ever) I really hate FOX, too. They sure know how to kill an action-drama, don't they? Anyone who can destroy a James Cameron show in less than two years and then blackball a Joss Whedon creation nine months later has got to have some serious rectal-cranial inversion goin' on.
