When I try to access the site from home (currently 85.226.103.216, but same from multiple
IPs in the 85.226.x range) I get a 403.6 error,
You are not authorized to view...

Same from my mothers work connection
(teliasonera.se), sorry don't have the IP# handy.

What's up? Implemented some blocking list?

From the error page: "The Web server you are
attempting to reach has a list of IP addresses that are not allowed to access the Web site, and
the IP address of your browsing computer is on
this list."

Fortunately I'm able to get my fix of fanfic via
a terminal session through my work, but it's deefinately unsmooth...

Regards,

/Michael

I had a similar problem, I kept getting timeouts and couldn't access for almost a week. Eventually I set up a proxy to my ISP's webcache.

EDIT: Hmmm. got a deadlock on attempting to post, tried again and it's duplicated my message... any chance of a delete option?

The deadlock often means that its the thread view that's locked, not the posting. If the URL is for savemessage.asp (I think) then the post failed, if its the url for the thread then it's just the thread view that failed.

More insane ramblings by the people who brought you beeeer milkshakes!

I too had problems a while ago with timeouts and sql errors, but this really looks like the webserver actively blocks IPs.
Error page comes up without any delays/timeouts...

HAKEN

Likes to mess with stuffs.

Sorry about that. The site was being spammed to death from multiple IPs off that subnet a couple of weeks back, which has the same effect as a denial of service attack.

The SysAdmin took a shotgun approach and blocked the whole subnet so that I can bring the site back up. It's just a temporary fix so the IPs should be unblocked soon.

OK - good to know that you're aware, it's something intentional and that you're working on resolving it.

is what I'd like to do to the doing it and also the ones running unsecured machines...

In the mean time you can all go here.
http://www.78y.net

It's a proxy browser, a good one, ie, it actually works as I've tried quite a few. That's how I'm here on the site now, my IP is being blocked too.
Just scroll to the bottom and fill in the URL, works for me

Go run your little world.

Thanks so much ROBINHOOD
I've not been able to get access to the site for months, but a friend at the forum here sent me this thread by email and now I'm able to post.

One question though - are you still using the proxy server at that website, or are you now able to visit the site without it?
Cos at the minute, its the only way I can

Ps - I'm computer illiterate

Nope, I\\\'m still blocked, so yeah, this is still the only way I can visit the site. But as Haken mentions, should only be a temp measure. Apparently a hacker hi-jacked some of our accounts and did..er... something or other.

I\\\'ve since changed my browser as that other one won\\\'t upload pictures any more. I now use nodeproxy.com which does infact you can find a whole bunch of \\\"free\\\" proxybrowsers here at http://www.gosneak.com/ Just pick the one which works best.

One other point, if you haven\\\'t already, download the http://www.firefox.org.uk/ browser free. It\\\'s far safer (no hacking), easier to use and faster than IE.

Thanks for all the info
As I said, I'm not an expert when it comes to all this proxy stuff, so I have no clue really

I'll definitely check into those sites though, and hopefully all will be sorted soon anyway
