I'm not exactly sure what is going at the moment. The URL to FIREFLYFANS.NET is:

http://www.fireflyfans.net with the "s"

The IP address is: 168.215.229.9

If you cannot get to it using the URL, but can with the IP, it's probably due to a DNS issue local to you, which explains why some users can and others can't.

I'll investigate it more, but at the moment, I'm at a lost as to the cause.

Didn't something like this happen before? That is why I kept this link http://www.fireflyfan.net/main.asp on my favorites. I got here using that.

I just used the email link to your reply. Was able to read it http://www.fireflyfans.net/mthread.asp?b=5&t=37223&m=683244#683244

But got the error message when hit reply back to your message.

I'm using Aol if that helps. Got the same error message a seperate window using IE too.

"The requested URL was not found on this server Not Found AOLserver/3.4.2 on http://errors.aol.com "

Here I am replying on fireflyfan.net

Now I get the error using the reply link too.

http://www.fireflyfans.net/ I get Aol message "Error: Can't Resolve Address Oops! We can't find the webpage you're looking for"

I know what the problem is. It won't get resolved tonight as it is out of my control at the moment. Earliest possible would be tomorrow morning and will likely take a day for everything to propagate to all the other DNS.

I couldn't get here with fireflyfanS, but could with fireflyfan ( no 's').

Don't know if that information helps, but I thought I'd mention it.

SHADOWCAPTAIN

thank you haken.
i have had to use the IP address also.

does anyone think that this could
this be related to my
'can't edit my profile' problem?
i have tried:

1. turning off my firewall
2. restarting my pc
3. updating my browser - firefox 3.0.7
4. tried IE7
5. cleared the cache

i have been able to edit my profile in the past.
i have a 6 month old lenovo [IBM] thinkpad that has no problems.

i CAN edit my profile with my friends pc who uses
the same exact router, i.e - 1 foot away.

if ANYONE has any ideas, please let me know.

thanks, shadowcaptain at live.com

As I stated earlier, the easiest way to keep getting DNS resolution, is to just add these two entries to your /etc/hosts file:

168.215.229.9 fireflyfans.net
168.215.229.9 www.fireflyfans.net

(Second one is just like the first, but with www. in front of it). In windows, the hosts file usually resides in:

C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc

'Cause it doesn't get said nearly enough: Thank you Haken!

I was worried when I kept getting bumped to Rogers' fugly search page. Thought I'd caught a redirect worm or something (knowing Rogers' demonstrated levels of benevolence and competency, I wouldn't put it past 'em).

Sorry with the trouble on the DNS record, took awhile to get to it... It's fixed now, everything should be back to normal.

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

I could reach it the whole time through fireflyfan, but it's good to have the site really and truly back! Thanks, Haken!
