FFFRIEND

I wanted to make a comment regarding this thread, but first a brief statement about me. I am not new to fandom (I was involved in B7 fandom for a few years before resuming life as a mundane), but I am new to FireFly. I was amazed at how much the show and cast captivated me and how much I loved the movie -- a sterling combination of the worlds of Blake's 7 and Bester's "The Stars My Destination" . . . what a trip. That "Serenity" didn't do that well at the boxoffice is depressing (87% positive reviews by the A-list of film critics for heaven's sake! -- see rottentomatoes); one of the best movies of the year, and . . . oh well. Such potential, surely the series will resurface again in some form because the Firefly universe is large and there are many stories within it.

But I honestly don't see FireFly as such coming back any time soon. Too many factors against it (all noted in prior posts) and more than one miracle (the film being that miracle) may be asking too much.

Still, if history is a guide (think ST:TNG or BSG) then around the year 2022, give or take a couple, something may well happen. Maybe a series about ship crewed entirely by Companions or a ship with a token Reaver as a crew member. Sadly, that may be it. What a loss.

Anyone who thinks that guy is "phishing" doesn't know much about phishing (or that guy is the most incompetent phisher ever, since he's asking for nothing of value that can't be found in the telephone directory - you give up more personal info to post on this site than you do to show your support for the show there).

It seemed pretty clear to me that Joss Whedon's statements regarding "not going back to a TV show" were simply attempts to go for more movies rather than making it seem like he'd "settle" for a lesser commitment. He (and most people involved with the show) seems to have genuine affection for it - he could easily get more stuff done on the show, even if it's just straight-to-DVD movies or TV miniseries. I hope he breaks the bank with Wonder Woman and can afford to simply make stuff happen and put out what he wants to put out. Firefly/Serenity deserves to have more stories told.

HIGHLANDER

What we all have to remember fellow Browncoats is Fox, Paramount Pictures, and Joss himself are living in this verse, which runs on money and popularity! If the money is right, and creative control is still in Joss'es hands I'm confident Firefly will rise again. The original Star Trek was cancelled and brought back by the Fans!! People wrote to the Network in such large numbers they were obliged to consider their ratings mute! So what I'm saying fellow Browncoats is that WE yes We, are in control of Fire Fly's rebirth! Lets make some noise!! E-mail, and regular mail everyone you can think of who is connected to Fire Fly! Remember when it was cancelled in 2002 nobody thought they would ever make a movie! United we Stand!!
