Sad isn't it? RIP Steve. Happy hunting wherever you are.

Oh, and another sad piece, Bob Ross the man who painted happy little trees is also gone. Hope he's happy painting clouds, and God if he agrees to pose. RIP Bob.

Yeah. I heard about it a few hours ago at work. I thought they were joking. That's a sad thing. I always liked the guy.

Steve knew what he was doing and I don't think that was the way he was meant to go. I think some child rights activists sprayed Stingray pheremones all over and made the Stingray crazy so it would attack anything in retaliation to those photos taken of him holding his baby while playing with the crocodiles.

RIP Steve. I hope you're up there wrestling crocks now.

ARCADIA

I just heard ten minutes ago. I really can't believe it. He seemed like such a nice guy, with a warm and energetic spirit. And he really knew what he was doing. Poor, Terri, Bindi, and Bob. And, of course, Steve. :-(

Very sad to hear this. What's even sadder is that his wife is climbing a mountain somewhere, so apparently she doesn't know yet. I *really* hope someone gets to her before she hears it on the news...

The man was a leaf in the wind when it came to dealing with animals. I really can't say anything that would properly do him justice. This is a sad day.

Agreed. There'll never be another. He was a good man, and fun to make fun of.

(The Yahoo news report says that his wife has been informed, and has informed their kids.)

I just read about it online. This is indeed sad news.

When I first saw his show way back when, I thought he was kind of a kook. But, after watching for a while, I really came to respect the guy.

You just can't get more passionate about reptiles and animals than Steve.

I feel so bad for his family...

WEREALLJUSTFLOATING

I don't think this news has really sunk in yet - Steve Irwin used to cheer me up whenever I watched his programmes on the Discovery Channel - he was a little crazy but that's exactly why I loved him. I can't believe he was killed in such a freak accident - although I know he always lived his life on the edge - I don't think he had a death wish by any means. Anyone who was a fan of his could see he loved life and was just so passionate about conserving wildlife, for him to die at such a young age is just so tragic.

RIP Steve- you leave behind a great legacy.

We're still flying.

That's not much.

It's enough.

I happened to log into my netscape browser about 30 minutes ago and saw the sad news listed ... I found a link to abcnews and read it ...

I was saddened and then I remembered I have the rules for the Red Dwarf Role Playing Game from deep7 games and I had once written up a wax droid character ..

remember that ep of Red Dwarf called Meltdown [ http://www.reddwarf.co.uk/index.cfm?frameset=deck03/deck_fs.html&page=
season4.html
.. scroll down to see the synopsis ] where the boyz met up with Ghandi, Sartre and Elvis and there was a discussion about a Winnie the Pooh droid ...

well .. I'm somewhat off topic ...
here is my waxdroid of Steve ....

PHOENIXROSE

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

Most reports agree that he would have been fine if it hadn't caught his heart.
Hell of a way to go.
When I first saw him, I figured a snake would bite him or something, but he's been fine, he's defied death so many times, and now this gets him, when he's not pulling a stunt or doing anything really dangerous (all things considered)
Sad. Very sad.

This is such sad news. My daughters and I have watched his shows from when they were little.
And I agree I always thought he was a little nuts, but he always managed to come away unharmed and making us understand the animal world better.
My heart goes out to his wife and children.

Here's to you Steve... you were a good man.

RELFEXIVE

This was the news that woke me up this morning. Bad way to start a day.

He's a good-sized loss to the world.

And to commemorate it, today's issue of one of my favorite webcomics, which features someone called Steve but who is in no way like Mr Irwin. Nope. Not at all. Crikey.

CHINDI

He was a man full of life. His enthusiasm was contagious. This is very sad news... tho we know that at least he died doing what he loved, and there is something to that.

My condolences to his family and friends. He will be missed!

VERASNEWOWNER

I know, this is really sad. Everyone i speak to about him says hes a nutter, well, he kinda was sometimes, but never believed me when i told them he was a fully trained zoologist and knew exactly what he was doing.

But the way he went was just extraordinarily bad luck, considering the facts of stingray attacks etc.

He will be missed, a first class entertainer who died on the job he loved so much.

See ya round, Steve.
