Ha ha! These are the perks of having no life and too much time.

I think I'd be just about as worried about it on Wednesdays as Fridays; those who'd watch sci-fi and/or serious dramas already have shows for them on Wednesdays, which is Firefly-competition comparable to the competition with going on out Fridays. And ANYTHING on a Monday evening has to be a women's show to survive the football season. That leaves Tuesdays and Thursdays, the Sitcom Days. Some of those are big hits of course, but they're different enough not to draw so much from the same potential audience as the Wednesday shows would.

Does this mean that Firefly is going to be here for the longrun then? Are they going to last the whole season and possibly more?

Somebody please cheer me up, I've had a rough day!

Cheer up, Minder. Firefly'll find a home, even if it's only X number of episodes on a DVD.

I like Herc's idea of moving it to Mondays at 9:00.

I've had a bad feeling about the Friday Death Slot from day one - they don't call it that for nothing. Joss said in an interview once that he likes the death slot because the expectations are lower, but I feel the risk is still higher than say, Tuesday night. How are you supposed to build an audience if nobody's around to watch to begin with? For me personally, Monday would work. I have (fantasy) TV shows on Sunday (Angel) and Tuesday (Buffy and Smallville) but nothing on Monday. Yes, there is the conflict with football, but I don't watch sports. I think a much bigger issue is how to bring in a new night's viewers halfway through the season. It's one thing to move a show with an established audience (like drifting Angel from Tues-Mon-Sunday) but it's not the same with Firefly.

I have a good question. Fox has a long history of putting sci-fi shows on Friday nights and then cancelling them for not being profitable. If it's profits (ratings) they want, why are they putting their most expensive shows on a night with few viewers?

This seems really far-fetched to me.

Fox is doing pretty well on Wednesday with the current Bernie Mac, Cedric & Fastlane lineup. The Bernie/Cedric hour is one of the only success stories of the new season for Fox (the other being 24).

Thursday night seems like a more available night for FF but the competition would be tough.

Well I know I for one wouldn't be able to watch it Thursday unless it came on at nine: I'd miss Scrubs!

Yah in that hour i already watch New Buffy/ Survivor/ Scrubs/ Syndie Buffy, with Angel after it, thats oo much, but John Doe would likely take the reins of Monday Night.

If you know anyone that can help my screenwriting career, please help! And yes, I am self-advertising here. Hehehe, me such a little devil.

If Fox does decide for reasons unknown ( no... )not to continue, perhaps Joss's connections at UPN could market the show on a more receptive network. Possibly even the threat may keep FireFly on the air.

I like Monday nights... Wedensday night is packed full for us TV wise. Don't get me wrong I'd personally choose Firefly over any of the shows we watch on Wedensday including Enterprise but I know many people wouldn't give a new show a shot if it were on wedensdays (Thats why I'm not watching Birds of Prey for example) I think putting it up against Enterprise would be as good as signing a death certificate. You're competing within your fan base. Honestly I love both shows and I know I'd choose firefly but I'm thinking of my BIL whose never seen an episode currently despite being a sci-fi fan wouldn't tune on in Wedensdays over Enterprise nor on Fridays because he has date nights with his girlfriend. I use him as an example because he's the type of person we want to capture with a new time slot someone that loves sci-fi but was too busy on Friday nights to give Firefly a shot putting it in a time slot competing against that person's shows wouldn't capture it... putting it into an open slot without competion in the same Genre is better. Thats why Monday is jumping out at me and why I think Wedensdays is a bad thing.
