Never really took the time to watch Farscape before, because you know.. its muppets in space.

I recently watched PeaceKeeper Wars though and pretty much enjoyed it, so when I saw the First 3 seasons selling at a mega reduced price I snatched them up.

The DVDs of the first 3 seasons are all full frame 4:3 and I thought they were supposed to be widescreen. Does anyone know if Farscape came out in widescreen at all?

Anyways i've watched a couple of episodes so far and it doesnt suck. Some things with the show irk me though, like Crichtons space suit he wears in his ship..(open faced motorcycle helmet) and in the pilot episode when he gets tractored into Moya's landing bay, he has a small fire in his cockpit so he opens his canopy not even checking for an atmosphere..

Just wait for some of those back from the dead moments
Like another show we love, narrative imperative wins out over technological verisimilitude every time. Farscape doesn't pretend to be anything but pantomime - colourful, loud and funny

Here did you get the DVD's from? I watched the series from the beginning, but I'm cheap when it comes to the prices of the DVD's of the series.

Farscape was fullscreen for it's first three seasons and switched to wide for it's fourth and the mini.

I'm in Australia. I got them from Big W for $38 each season, previously had seen them for near $100.

The best release of the Farscape DVD's is the StarBurst Edition. Each volume cost $15 - $20 and includes 7-8 episodes on two dual layer discs and some nice extra features. A whole season is only 3 volumes, $45 - $60. Not only do they take up less space than the other sets but they are more feature packed.

I just want to echo that the new starburst editions are really cool. They have a lot of new documentaries and features, and are much cheaper than the old DVDs. You can get an entire season for $45 (at deepdiscountdvd.com each volume is $15 with free S&H) when before a season of farscape was at least $100 or more.

I spent a lot of money on Starburst editions and still did not get them all. Frell! But now it looks like you can get the first season, that I found absolutely impossible to get.

So I just found out that all four season of Farscape can be found on iTunes. Season 1 is $22 and the other seasons are $39 a piece.

I've never seen the series before, but heard it was good. Should I get it?

If you prefer buying your tv on ITunes, you should try at least the 1st episode and see what you think.
I LOVE the series. You may too, but I've had friends who didn't. Can you just get one ep and try it? I hardly ever do ITunes, so don't know. :(

Yeah, you can buy it by the episode, so I think I'll give that a try. It's $0.99 for a season 1 episode and $1.99 for all other episodes.

I usually don't buy TV of iTunes either but this is the only place I've been able to find Farscape.

Edited to add woefully, that this is Season 2. But at least you could watch one ep and get the feel for it, I suppose.

My favourite show of all time. And just to check, if you were in a burning cockpit with seconds to go until you caught fire, would you give a fuck whether there was an atmosphere???

Bwahahahhaha muppets! love it

I found that the series gets better as it goes on. At first it takes it self too seriously and then you see later that this loosens up and becomes more watchable. I agree with the uniform - I found that really annoying at first but he gets some cool duds soon

I came to really like this show too.

Just to clarify, this is a very old thread. I have since watched all 4 seasons and peacekeeper wars a few times and grew to be a fan. :)

That's good to hear. I recently picked up the pilot on iTunes as summer is when I like to try out new shows (its how I got into Firefly). I figured I would love it, since I'm teaching myself to build muppets and its in space and centers on a bunch of underdogs trying to escape the long arm of the law. But then I watched the pilot and..... I dunno, I wanted to like it. I think now though I'll try the next few eps and see if it grows on me.

Your Indian Pirate Lord,
Ash

Edit: because I'm a big girl and I know the difference between hear and here O_o

Yes, Farscape is awesome. Rygel is definitely the best character :) He was excellent in machinegun / canon tower. I must laugh always when i imagine his body and his comments.
