Anyone else see this cool flick? Kinda 1984 meets Fahrenheit 451. Human emotions are banned, so people ate required to take an emotion inhibitor. Stars Christian Bale, the new Batman. Lower budget, but they did a good job. Rent it! Then go fly a kite.

CALLMEATH

I saw the first 10 minutes of it once, and those minutes were pretty cool. A friend of mine swears that it's what the Matrix should have been, and more.

Can't find it at my crappy video store, though.

Important people don't do field work.

I did enjoy this movie, but I found it to be unoriginal...The fight scenes were fantastic, and I did enjoy that there was an actual explanation for someone dodging bullets besides...He's really fast...

Yep...gotta learn me some of the gun-kata...

Already the master of Gymkata as it is...

I saw this film in the theater and I believe it was
the most fun I had in a theater that year. For some
reason critics really hated this movie which led to
a short run in the theaters. For it's budget, the
effects were better done than the matrix' IMO. I
especially fliped over the knife fight with pistols
at the movie's climax.

Freedom is Important because People are Important

I enjoyed the film, though I can say with certainty that it was not better than Matrix I.

I can't swallow the whole 'gun kata' thing as a component in the real world (I enjoyed that the Matrix had a good excuse for supernatural feats.) However, it was a creative and innovative idea, and I enjoyed it for that reason.

Also, I was a big fan of Ferenheit as a child, and Equilibrium brought back fond memories of it.

Caught the climactic gun-kata fight @a friend's house. Bought the DVD, & was impressed by the overall film, considering it disappeared from the cinema before I'd heard of it. I'd call it a great "B" movie, without pretensions to greatness, but well written & executed.

The writer/director, Kurt Wimmer, also wrote & directed a movie called Ultraviolet, scheduled for release this August. Although it deals with vampirism, it seems to have nothing more than that & its title in common with the British series by Joe Ahearne. Nonetheless, based on my enjoyment of Equilibrium, I'm looking forward to Wimmer's Ultraviolet.

GROUNDED

My brother got me this for my birthday a while back after seeing lots of recommendations for it. It was okay, but nowhere near as special as some people were making out.

You know, I enjoyed this film immensly, thought the gun-kata was innovative, and the overall tone of the film was creepy and oppressive- mostly a near-great flick.
But the final confrontation chilled me quick. Yet another whoosh of a sword- pause- body part slides off. S@#t like that works in a Freddy film, but not here. One totally bogus moment took me out of the whole movie. A shame, 'cause it was good 'cept for that.

I have had this film for ages, and I gotta say for me its better than the second and third installments of the Matrix. Ok maybe the idea wasn't original, but the storyline was good, the acting was excellent, casting was perfect - Sean Pertwee,Sean Bean, Angus Mcfadyen and Christian Bale! The fight sequences were stunning. All that on the budget they had which was really pretty low.

Dude, FRANCO already created a thread about this movie nearly a year ago. It even has the same name - "Equilibrium" - and mentions the similarity to Fahrenheit 451.

By the way, on the page I wrote a synopsis of the history of the Equilibrium world. You might find it interesting.

I saw the movie by accident (can't now recall what we were aiming to see, but some intense Monkeyball 2 gaming put paid to it). In the cinema it was something else.

Idiotically earnest (step forward Matrix 2 and 3), but with big dumb action scenes that I hadn't seen even in some of the chop socky stuff that Hollywood is now catching up with. Besides, you gotta love Sean Pertwee as the President of the World.

Its a bad film, but its heart is in the right place, and its one of the most entertaining bad films I've seen.

Loved the way that Fitchner turned up in the earlier scenes - okay as a film buff I recognised him, but nice all the same.

Yah, the first time through I thought "Wasn't that William Fichtner? Nah, couldn't be -- he wouldn't do just a walk-through" That shows good organizational skills on the part of the director, 'cause I'm sure Bill wasn't hangin' around for days between shots.

I thought it was an excellent movie. What amazed me was that as soon as some idiots saw black outfits and martial arts, they screamed Matrix.

No comparison whatsoever.

I enjoyed this flick, it makes me glad to know that Christian Bale will be able to continue this kind of out-there role with the new Batman. I also hear that Kurt Wimmer, director, is now moving on to do the vampire-based film version of Ultraviolet. Should be interesting.

The first time I watched this movie I thought it was very fantastic, one of the best movies I had ever seen, but after the second time I watching it , it seemed to have lost its charm with me, sadly.
