Has anyone spotted the Serenity trailer in front of Revenge of The Sith? If so what was the audience reaction like? The only bad thing I could think about seeing the Serenity trailer before Revenge of The Sith is that it is up against that absolutely extraordinary War of The Worlds trailer. After seeing that trailer I’m almost as psyched about seeing War of The Worlds as I am Serenity. I’m also hoping that The Island will be good as well. It’s great to have a few good sci-fi films to look forward to this year, for a change.

I read somewhere that the Serenity trailer won't be showing in front of Star Wars (it might have been on a message board here actually - I don't really go much place else).

In any case, I went to see Star Wars on Thursday and there was no Serenity trailer shown - I'm in the UK by the way.

Another Brit confirming no Serenity Trailer in front of SW:ROTS. And to be honest, it's a real shame. (Uni)Versal could have had such a great place to give F*X a kick in the knads. The trailer for a film based on a series they didn't think was worth a damn. It wouldn't surprise me if F*X had forced cinemas not to run it before ROTS.

I've seen ROTS twice at two different theatres, and neither time have I seen a teaser for Serenity or War of the Worlds. But that doesn't mean that you absolutely will not see one. To my understanding, studios may pack specific trailers with certain movies, but the theatres have the option of running whichever trailers they want in front of whichever movie they want. The Serenity trailer was packed with Hitchhiker's Guide to Galaxy, and The Island, Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, and Fantastic Four were packed with Star Wars. Hopefully, many theatre managers who have copies of the Serenity trailer will have the foresight to stick it in front of Star Wars (provided they actually care) - particularly as Hitchhiker's starts to leave theatres. But most theatres are probably screening more copies of Star Wars than they have copies of the Serenity teaser. If I'm mistaken about all this, and you know more about how the trailers are shipped to the theatres and selected before movies, please correct me.

America loves a winner!

No BDM trailer here either. Instead, they showed 'Stealth', a near futuristic A.I. fighter jet gets a mind of its own after a bolt of lightning ( can you say - Frankenstien? )

Sounds more like "Short Circuit" to me.

Johnny 5 alive!!

I don't think I could sit through Stealth and not have that thought constantly running through my head. I'll hear every line that's supposed to be dramatic through the voice of that guy with the accent.

I mock you with my monkey pants.

hmmm weird. I got to see the Trailer in HD digital. ROTS Digital screening in Merrifield VA (outside Washington DC) had the Serenity Trailer as the LAST PREVIEW before the movie started...

Cool! It'll be fantastic seeing the trailer on the big screen let alone the actual film lol.

I'm going to see Star Wars again tomorrow with a different group of mates at a different cinema so I'll see if it's on there and I'll report back...

As a former projectionist, I can tell you that ultimately it is up to the person who "builds" the movie what trailers go in it.

In case you don't know, movies come in reels of about 2,000 feet, with the average movie being 6 reels. The projectionist has to piece these reels together, or "build" the movie when it arrives at the theatre, and then take the reels back apart, or "break it down" when the movie leaves the theatre. Each movie comes with one movie literally attached to the front of the 1st reel, and that trailer is typically a mandatory inclusion. Though it is almost always removed from the print and a theatre logo is put between the trailer and the movie.

Past that one trailer, the movie company (Regal, United Artist, Rave, Carmike, etc) or the manager of the theatre have decision making capability on what the remaining trailers will be. In a lot of cases, managers don't really care, so the projectionists make those decisions - a lot of the time based on what trailers they have available.

I can tell you that at the Cobb Hollywood 16 in Tuscaloosa, AL, all 5 prints of Star Wars have the Serenity trailer, and it's the last trailer. Why? My room mate, who is a Serenity fan built all 5 prints and made sure several weeks ago to order enough Serenity trailers to ensure that they be shown with Star Wars. The good news is that he is moving to a theatre in Ft Walton Beach, FL in a few weeks, and will likely make sure that the trailer is included on all big summer releases there. His replacement at the theatre in Tuscaloosa is also a Browncoat, so the BDM will continue to get its exposure here.

Not when I saw it. The only movie with which I've personally seen the BDT was "The Interpreter". Response was...nonexistent.

Hi all - saw Star Wars for the second time today at a different cinema (remember I'm in the UK for this). So far I've been to the Odeon in Hull and UGC in Hull. Neither showing had the Serenity trailer :(

You would think that they would have a tailer or even a teaser for Serenity at a movie like RotS cuz they are so similar.

Im going to see RotS this afternoon. If I can remember, Ill report back when I get home. I have a feeling there wont be though because of what you are all saying but Ill give it a shot.

no BDT where i saw RotS (crappy little 2 screen theater, grrr) but my friend dave, a non-browncoat, told me he saw it. no idea whether he thought it looked cool or not--he told me it looked stupid, but that's because he's completely incapable of not annoying me. he's so stubborn that even if he did like it, there is no way he would ever tell me lol. my god he's annoying.
