FANTASTICLAUGHINGFAIRY

I have just re-watched season1 of Dark Angel and Firefly at the same time, and just had to come and express my bitterness here, where I knew a LOT of people would agree with me. I mean, surely the ratings weren't that bad, I hear Dark Angel was second only to the abysmal American Idol. So what happened? Being all Britishy, and therefore not having FOX, I can't really say, but if they keep cancelling all their decent shows, it has to be bad! I just love these two shows and am particularly distressed about Dark Angel, since there isn't even going to be a movie for that. I'm just generally very disgruntled at the moment, don't mind me and my little rant. I just had to say something. Is there any way to get in touch with FOX so I can moan at them personally?

...and we will call it...this land...

Hi fantasticlaughingfairy. You're on about my two favourite shows! The two most recent works of art that F@#%$!^G STUPID@#S piece of S#@@T short-sighted network cancelled due to almighty 'Mr. Ratings' infallable Gorram numbers.
At the very least, Dark Angel got two full seasons...I'm so thankful to James Cameron for that, bet he had to twist arms to get the second one financed!!
I just finished watching Buffy season 3, and the first couple of Angel episodes, and I keep coming back to the idea that Dark Angel is second only to Firefly as the best TV of all time!
No reason to yell at FOX, though. That'd be like chiding a monkey for poopin' in a tree.
( So, FLF, where ya been? How's Whales this time of year? Massachusetts is green and warm.)

Ha, Ha! That was the first thing I thought, too.

Well, considering that "The Inside" got trounced in the ratings last week by abc's "Dancing With the Stars", it's probably inevitable.

F*X is probably looking at the numbers right now and saying, "Hey, let's replace this show that nobody's watching with a reality show about dancing bears. Dancing shows are popular right now." I can just hear them...

Yeah just saw a commercial for the inside and they didn't even mention when it came on. How is that going to get good ratings if no one even knows when to watch. Much less the commercial showed no content or even the actors and actresses in the show. It just showed dark rooms and creepy images. I swear they don't even think!

I hope The Inside stays on long enough to find a niche.

Isn't The Inside the show that David Fury left "Lost" to get involved with?

America loves a winner!

I hated to see Dark Angel's demise as well. However, the 2nd season was wrought w/ flimsy, lame plot twists. Plus, droping D.A. paved the way for Firefly to be aired, then axedll

Yes, plus many of Joss' other former Mutant Enemy writers and directors are on the show, not to mention the composer and the DP from "Angel", and many others from the "Angel" crew. Adam Baldwin too, of course, if you didn't already know that.

When F*X cancels this, they'll just be saying (again) that great material from the most talented people in Hollywood has no place on their network (or tv, in general, for the most part).

The second episode, this Wednesday night, is written by Jane Espenson (who wrote the Firefly episode, "Shindig").

If you know anyone who has one of those gorram Nielson boxes, please gag them and tie them up in their basement (only if absolutely necessary - j/k) for that one hour on Wednesday night and turn their tv to "The Inside". Otherwise, they will probably be watching abc's "Dancing with the Stars" and setting civilization back 800 years.

Fury did move from Lost to The Inside, but I think I read that the move was temp, until the next season of 24, which he was going to after his stint on The Inside. IIRC.

Good shows get canceled far too often. The ratings system is VERY flawed. Quality is irrelevant. Networks sell advertisment time based on estimated number of viewers. Maybe there should be an IQ test before recieving a Neilson ratings box.

I expect (hope for)ratings to increase, due to word of mouth from the pilot ep. We'll see. And hopefully FOX will give the numbers time to grow.
The Inside 9:00pm EST FOX

2nd season wasn't so bad if you know which episodes NOT to watch.
See : Dark Angel: 2nd season episodes that don't suck on this board.
Edit: and the finale was awsome!

Oh, I thought they already did that. They won't let anyone have a box unless their IQ is 90 or below.

People who really get into their series don't have Neilson boxes, they want to see the show, not push extra buttons, and the people who have them don't give a crap; they leave it on the same channel for hours, or aren't smart enough to follow the plots to anything more complicated than reality shows.
Edit: Has anyone here ever even HEARD of someone they know, or even someone they don't know actually having one of those things? Hmmm... is this another conspiracy?

Sometimes you get a box and sometimes they just give you a diary to keep.

A friend of my parents was chosen to do a diary.

Yesterday, I was talking to a friend of mine and she got another call. So she takes that call and then gets back to me in a few seconds. Know who was calling...?

Nielsen!

And she turned them down! I was like "What you
mean you turned them down! That's the only way to get your opinion to really count! All my life I've wanted to be Nielsen, etc., etc., ect.!

She found this reaction quite amusing.

This is way late, but in regards to Nielsen ratings, my family actually did it once (not when it counted, unfortunately :( ). Ours was the diary thing. They don't actually send you an entire line-up of pilots to watch from multiple networks, you only get a few shows. Most of the time they're brain-numbingly dumb sitcoms. But there also doesn't seem to be any consideration in regards to stuff the volunteer might enjoy, so I'm sure other people getting all the good shows report that they hate them.

Long live internet broadcasting.

Y'know, I've been saying for years that Fox is going to be the one to finally air my idea for a home-video show: "America's Funniest Air-Show Disasters". Take the usual clips of planes crashing into crowds and set it to ha-ha music like "Yakkety Sax" (aka the Benny Hill theme music), and watch the hilarity ensue...

Maybe someone should do a show entitled the Top 50 Shows Cancelled Before Their Time.
Wonder how many Fox would fill.

And I think we should give a hearty round of applause to Jameron for digging up a four year old thread. Put your own :applause: emoticon in here.
