Over the years FOX has cancelled more great shows than any other network. Firefly ROCKS! It is sad to hear Joss tell about how FOX didn't understand the show and as a result never got behind it 100%. I guess they can only relate to such crap as Family Guy
FOX, here's to you!

Why can't I have a registered companion of my own?

Well then I guess I can talk about my EVIL idea to have for the opening day was to arrange to get the address for Fox TV studios and send them a bushel of Green Apples. Witha Card of Course asking them "What you think about them Apples."

It would be set to arrive on opening day so that even if they wished to raise a stink the movie would be in theaters and the stink might drive attendence up. Which si a good thing.

I'm not trying to start a fight, because I know comedy is subjective, but I think Family Guy is one of the funniest shows on TV.
There's no reason to trash what may be another persons baby just to prove television execs have no taste and less common sense. God knows there's enough proof that already.

I'll go you one better! Let's order about 600 tons of fresh horse manure and have it dumped at FOX's main studio gate. The note would read: "Here's another load of crap for your Fall Line-up!"

Nah it might get us in trouble with health people. Also the fact folks will not be watching will be their clue about piss poor programming.

Family Guy is a joke!
The guy who writes this show totally ripped off the character names from his home town. After the first season the whole town threatened to sue FOX for allowing their names to be used in a not so flattering way! Guess what? No 2nd season!
Why do so many TV comedies have the husband as some FAT LOSER and the wife is a HOTIE?
How often do you see this in real life? NEVER

OK, you may be right. I just really get postal when I think about all of the interesting shows that FOX has screwed over!
FIREFLY is one of the most original shows I have seen in years! Let's hope that another network wakes-up and options a few seasons of Firefly!

You may be right. I hated Family guy after seeing 1 episode (It was some stupid BS about the father crashing his car into a satalite dish and knocking out the whole town's cable TV)
Anyway, after the first season I read in TV guide that the town was threatening to sue FOX and FOX was considering pulling the plug to avoid the lawsuit. Since I hated the show I never paid attention to whether it was dropped or not!

Family Guy is smart and very witty. It deserves the 2nd chance it's got, just as Firefly deserves to live again on the big screen.

At least they haven't cancelled The Inside. That I know of. Yet.

You mean the address for FOX NETWORK, not Fox TV Studio. Fox TV studio was behind Firefly, the network wasn't.

I like The Inside, but still have mixed feelings on it. Lot of potential, good cast, etc, but it hasn't quite come together for me yet. Plus, I'm getting sick of Rebecca getting abducted almost every episode...

I have this week's on tape, but only saw a few minutes of it. From what I saw, it looks the tone was a little more humorous, but still pretty danged dark, which is cool.

Personally, I love "Family Guy". If you're going to discount a show because the creator took character names from his home town, then I guess "The Simpsons" is off your list, too.
Matt Groening grew up in my home town of Portland, OR and named several characters after local streets. As for the fat guy with the pretty wife, you can trace that all the way back to "The Honeymooners". There's nothing new under the sun, friend.

Let's see, there's our beloved Firefly, then there's of course Family Guy, and Futurama, and Dark Angel, and what else? Arrested Development is hanging by its fingernails. I know there's more...

Oddness:
Street Names are fair game !
Now that you mentioned the Simpsons ........ I must admit that I am getting tired of the same old stuff.
Bart pulls the same rude tricks, Homer is, if it is possable, getting dumber and so on.......
This is what I love about Firefly! It is fresh and funny. I can totally see guest apperances from characters from Joss' other shows. Buffy as a registered companion , Angel as a mercenary , zander as Simon's evil twin brother and Gunn as Zoe's little brother The Show totally Rocks!

That has been my feeling on it as well. I think they need to focus on the team aspect. That to me means making Adam's character more 3-D. I feel nothing for any of the characters and that is not something that lends me to watching for long.

Try Sliders, The Adventures of Brisco County Jr, and Kindred: the Embraced.

It's become very hard for me to get into shows these days, because the ones I get into almost always end up getting cancelled.

FIVVER

Newbie here so please be gentle.

Just wanted to respond to "What is wrong with Fox".

The problem is with broadcast tv. In any company, their product is what they produces and their customers are the ones who pay for it. So how does that work for tv? Who are Fox's customers and what is their product? The correct answer is not viewers and shows, the bills are paid by the SPONSERS. They are Fox's customers. What Fox supplies to them (their product) are us - the viewers. Fox and all the broadcast networks are just trying to supply the most product at the least cost.

Now before I get jumped for seeming to take Fox's side, let me say that I'm two years older than 'Forbidden Planet' and Firefly is the best I've seen on TV! Who know, maybe one of the subscription channels (HBO, Showtime, etc - where we are the customers) will see the dvd sales and the tremendous box office of the movie and get interested...

How could we forget WONDERFALLS???

Fox has killed more things that I love than, well anything. Fox murders the shows I love. I'm still shocked Arrested Development hasn't been moved to the Friday night death slot.

Dark Angel, Wonderfalls, Firefly, Tru Calling, all these deaths turned me off from Fox. I am awaiting The Inside's innevitable death (and although the show is okay, they really need to come up with more plots than Rebecca gets abducted, Rebecca knows everything about evil, Ryan wants to save her from Webb, and Adam Baldwin and Katie Finneran are around only to look good in photos and to say the occasional funny or serious thing). Although I am thinking that much like the WB regrets having killed Angel, I am pretty sure that Fox has started to learn its lesson after the huge upsets they caused when cancelling Firefly, Wonderfalls and most recently Tru Calling. You can't constantly trash your viewing audience by sucking them in and throwing them out and expect them to keep coming back for more.

Some of the best 'classic' TV wouldn't last 5 minutes on TV with the way ratings are done now (which is wholly innacurate and from which they must find a new way to do it. With all the digital cable out there now don't tell me they can't track what people are watching. The Neilson standard is badly flawed and under represents the viewing audience of today), X-Files, Buffy, Angel, Dark Angel, Roswell none of these shows would have gotten through their first season today, and that's just sad. Thank god for Lost cos it brought networks to realize you can make is supernatural and people will still flock to it like no ones business. Thanks ABC for taking a chance!
