Wasn't that the coolest? When I met George Hertzberg he asked what I liked about it, and I said that the combo Buffy saying:
'you can never grasp the source of our power....
but yours is right here'
that blew my mind...SO cool.
Magic vs Sci-fi, and the magic totally won.

Then the dream episode 'Restless' as the actual finale was fasinating...in the commentary Joss doesn't like to spell it out, but personally I think the cheese man dates back to when Buffy was turned into a rat (briefly) when she mentioned the "need for cheese"
and of course when she started dating Riley we were given to understand she has this love of cheese.... LOL

I still pull out 'Pangs' every thanksgiving, and I consider 'Hush' to be Joss's second greatest achievement
(I think the musical is his greatest achievement)

I did REALLY enjoy season 4 - but it's not my favourite - I preffered season 2 of Buffy - it was just AMAZING!
I'll admit season 4 is a bit more kick-ass and everything, but isn't Angelus great? Plus there's Spike and Dru and everything (although newly-chipped Spike is also fun).
I just loved season 2, what can I say?
So yeah, great, but not my favourite.

Agreeing to disagree FLF.

You know I was just watching the Season finale of S6 last night (the WB replays BtVS & Ats on Sunday nights...it is hard to resist), and I was reminded that I LOVED that finale!

Of course I was totally unspoiled for it, so everything that happened completely blew me away, but I think that that may have been the best season finale in all of the seasons of Buffy. It really used all our core characters in really interesting ways.

At the time I first saw S6 I was not yet online so it was easy for me to be unspoiled though.

I actually haven't watched season 6 in ages, it wasn't a bad season, I just didn't much like the direction the show went in after season 5 - although there are some good elements, I think it would have been better for the show to have ended after s5 - to end it on a high, as I was fairly disappointed with the season 7 finale - it's just not as good as some of the others.
I'll probably get shot for saying this, but there were really only a few episodes that I actually really liked in the last couple of seasons.
Just my opinion anyway.

vaguely disappointed FLF.

well I'll draw fire then, by saying that IMO most of the people who hated S6 & 7 were people who were wanting to watch their version of what should happen instead of the story Joss Whedon wanted to tell.
I know some people blamed Marti Noxon for S6, and certainly there were some things she imposed on the story line, but it was JW who had set the story arc and knew what he wanted to say.

Personally I think if people rewatched these seasons now (when they are no longer as attached to certainly relationships) they will find that there is a lot of humor and kick ass action in these final seasons.

I'm glad I got to see the show Joss wanted to make instead of what the fans would have made of it....
so go ahead and shoot me

Oh see, I was under the impression that Joss (and Mutant Enemy) marketed Buffy around to other stations because he really wanted to continue the story

Select to view spoiler:

S6: of Buffy coming back the hard way
S7: the sharing of power

and that after Season 7 he had reached his stopping place and he would have stopped being involved in the show even if SMG, UPN and/or Fox were dying to continue on with it....

I should also make my threads less chatty - but oh well, I didn't mean like a high as in happy - I meant that I wish it could have gone with me actually liking the series it finished with - plus I think the Gift's a better episode than the s7 finale - if maybe a bit more depressing.
I guess I just prefer s7 - shall we agree to disagree?

If you consider 'Objects In Space' a 'finale', then Firefly has the best finale, but it wasn't really a finale, so it doesn't count as a finale, and even though Buffy's finales for seasons 2, 3, and especially 4 (IMHO) were all great, a really great finale depends on it's characters, so, accomlishing a goal or defeating a demon come second to simple human feeling demonstrated like at the end in 'Freak Nation'; seeing Max and Logan hand in hand (brings tears to my eyes) makes it the best finale ever (IM not so HO).

Run on Chrisisall

Definitely - and no, I don't think 'Objects in Space' is a finale - it's just where Firefly had to end - and yes there is a difference.
I love the scene of them raising the flag at the end - and I even cried when Max and Logan were holding hands the first time I saw it. But then again, I cry really easily. It could also have been that I knew there were gonna be no more series afterwards - it's the last shot of our heroes together. (oh dear, the tears are coming again - sniff).
Anyways - IM even less of a HO than Chrisisall's, Freak Nation KICKS ASS! (it says so on one of my MANY t-shirts).

Agreein with the big feller FLF.

Only the first time?

I just came off watching Buffy S4 non stop to the end, and it was great, but last night I watched the DA pilot, and got choked up as the music swelled at her leap and swing to Logan's building, a move that would change the rest of her life. My wife says she thinks it cute that I cry at stuff. Buffy, and even Willow just can't get to me that way. Willow crying over Oz's leaving was the only point that was real close (course, I haven't gotten to the finale of BS5, so who knows?).

DA might have been percieved as a Buffy rip-off to those who hadn't seen it from the beginning, or maybe the more realistic tone of DA itself was a turn-off to some who really get off on demons and apocalypses and such.
Also, there are those who are 'One Female Ass Kicker For Me' types, and Buffy fills that spot quite nicely.

I suppose so Chris. We'll soon change that though won't we?
I have several guys who kick ass on my DVD shelf, what's wrong with more girls?

We should start a campaign to get this whole site into Dark Angel. Shouldn't be too difficult really - it's amazing, and you'd think people would be more appreciative of a show that got cancelled for Firefly. I can't believe it though. It's the only reason I could possibly hate Firefly. Sometimes (hides behind the computer monitor) I even wish Firefly had never happened, but then I watch the DVD's and am torn again. Oh my poor head.
