Captain, you're taking this very important mission far too lightly!
On the contrary, I think of this mission as very important, it is you I take lightly.

Willowy, you're up.

Ha! I love that one...there are SO many gems in TTWT!

A few from me:

"What a piece of work is man..."

That whole short Shakespearean monologue from Jean-Luc, the most elegant, refined, sexy hero ever.

Also, I LOVE the lecture that Kirk gives to the bratty Elaan of Troyus! When he's forcing her to use a fork and such. That whole scene never fails to crack me up!

And the unforgettable, "Let's get the hell out of here." To me, that is Shatner's best-delivered line ever. The look on his face is heartbreaking. Makes me want to just wrap my arms and legs around the man. Every time, I get this overwhelming urge to ease his pain...great line from a great episode.

Keep going, Chrisisall! Great thread!

Okay, sorry Chrisisall, I don't have a quote for you. I was just going to say that I watched Star Trek: Generations on Sci Fi last night (I was bored) and James Doohan was in it and it made me a bit sad. That's all.

The best scene for me is the most obvious one, the end of Best of Both Worlds Part 1 where you've spent nearly 45 minutes at the edge of your seat and then you get two knockout punches:
"I am Locutus of Borg."
"Fire!"

"What is it?"

"It's, it's green..........."

O'Brien is fixing something... or trying to. It sparks and, presumably, zaps his fingers. He leaps up and yells...

As close to swearing as Trek ever got.

I like the TNG episode with Data's poem "Ode to Spot".

Felis Cattus is your taxonomic nomenclature
an endothermic quadraped, carnivorous by nature.........

Damn, I cant remember the whole thing. I may have to go look for it now unless someone else here can remember the whole thing?

Geez, even though I've seen EVERY Star Trek episode and movie probably several times apiece, the ONLY one that immediately comes to mind is Scotty's "Up yer shaft!"

Then again it is 4am where I am....

On a more serious note,
Quote:

I totally agree with you on all of that (except wrapping my arms and legs around him). That episode, actually that moment is probably what made me such a Trek fan.

I found it! Great poem.

Here it is in its entirety:

Ode To Spot

Felis Cattus,

is your taxonomic nomenclature,
an endothermic quadruped carnivorous by nature.

Your visual, olfactory and auditory senses
contribute to your hunting skills, and natural defenses.

I find myself intrigued by your subvocal oscillations,
a singular development of cat communications

that obviates your basic hedonistic predilection
for a rhythmic stroking of your fur, to demonstrate affection.

A tail is quite essential for your acrobatic talents;
you would not be so agile if you lacked its counterbalance.

And when not being utilized to aide in locomotion,
it often serves to illustrate the state of your emotion.

O Spot,
the complex levels of behaviour you display
connote a fairly well-developed cognitive array.

And though you are not sentient,
Spot,
and do not comprehend,
I nonetheless consider you a true and valued friend.

AERONSTORM

Chekov: I think we're in a lot of trouble.

Kirk: That's a great help, Mr. Chekov. Bones?

McCoy: Well, I think Mr. Chekov's right, we ARE in a lot of trouble.

Kirk: Spock? And if you say we're in a lot of trouble...

Spock: We are.

And of course, I can't remember the episode for the life of me - but I have it as a sound byte on my comp!

TWG, Sorry I pre-empted your quote! (now there's F**x-type term, "preempted"). Thanks for the reminder on the epi title - I'll have to dig out my old VHS tapes and see if I can find it.

Loved the poem!

My college's motto was from the episode when Kirk, Bones and Scotty are quickly aging and Kirk is forced into a competency hearing.

His responese was: "There's more to running a starship than answering a bunch of fool questions."

I used to know the Latin translation, but that was many brain cells ago.
