Wow, I watched this today. I pestered my friend to get me a copy for a long while. For anybody who has not heard of the film, it is basicaly a vampire film but it is Russian. So you have to read subtitles but I've seen many films with subtitles and after 10 minutes you don't notice them.

What a stunning piece of cinema. The director is obviously influenced by films like the matrix as the SFX are outstanding. The story is brilliant and the end just left me with my jaw hanging it was so good. I couldn't believe it ended where it did and I just wanted more.

The characters and acting is so good (even though they are speaking in Russian) and you just connect with the main character so much.

What a fantastic film that makes most Hollywood films look amateur. The fact that it's from Russia immediately puts it at the bottom of the pile but I assure you it is fantastic.

If any of you guys have seen it what do you think?

I'm going to see if I can find it anywhere - I love a good (emphasis on the GOOD) vampire movie. From what I understand, it's the first in what is to be a trilogy.

Yeh Jester I really enjoyed it. The film coming from Russia I just wondered where they got the budget from. The cinematography is absolutely outstanding. If it was produced by Hollywood it would be nominated for oscars. However western cinema is so narrow minded unless the 'world' director targets it directly for a western audience. For example 'Crouching tiger' and 'Kung Fu Hustle' which are awesome films but targeted at a hollywood audience.

Sometimes Hollywood get it wrong though. For example I enjoyed the japanese version of 'The Ring' much more than the hollywood version.

Yes as far as I know Night Watch is part of a trilogy. Which is good as I felt it left alot of unanswered questions. One can only hope that the other 2 films don't make the same mistake as the 2 Matrix films that followed the first as they where very poor.

Yeah, my brother's something of a film buff, and got the import a few months back. Amazing film (even if I had to rewatch it couple times to really pick up on some of what was going on.)

Last I'd heard it's going to be coming to the States fairly soon (can't remember when it was supposed to but I think it's coming up) in theatres and such.

I can't wait to see the rest of the trilogy, and it almost seems like I remember reading that one or both of the sequels is already out in Russia.

You can take my hope when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers.
