To the old-timers: Yes...ANOTHER DA thread!!

To the newbies (and relativly new): Speak yer piece!

Dark Angel is my second favourite show of all time (Being here, you can guess which is my first).
FF and DA share a writer and a director- a coveted no-prize for the Browncoat that knows who they are

Favourite episodes of DA?
Most avoided?
...and...have ya seen Fantastic Four...?

I LOVED LOVED LOVED DA the first season, then it got messed up second season and I stopped watching. Well, then it was cancelled, so I could never retry it.

I stopped watching about 2/3 throught the second season, but saw it in it's entirety after getting it on DVD (was desperate; had DA continuation-withdrawal). Then it grew on me, and now I can honestly say I like most of the second season (especially the finale) almost as much as the first.

Yes, I like DA also. In fact, I saw every single episode when it was aired. I still think it's a great show, but I haven't had much motivation to watch it lately (too busy watching FF).
I did introduce my dad to the DA series and he's a bigger fan than I am. He owns both seasons on DVD and watches them almost as much as I watch FF.
As far as fave episode, I can't really remember any that stand out too much. Same goes for the most avoided.

I saw Fantastic 4 in theatres, it was o.k., but nothing special. Just meh. Could've waited just for DVD. But hey, that's just me

I did enjoy it at the theatres, seeing Alba fighting baddies on the big screen is always fun. But since I haven't had much interest in watching it again, that's why I said 'meh'.

As far as a funny movie with Jessica fighting a bad guy, who doesn't want that.

I love DA almost as much as I love Firefly/Serenity. I own both seasons on DVD and the books and the game... I'm actualy re-reading one of the books right now because i just re-watched season 2 with a friend and the clif hanger was kiling me... yay for books

I liked some aspects of the books by Max Collins, but in the end I thought it was rushed, and didn't handle the comet-thingey very well.
I wrote my own synopsis for an ending, I might post it here if any ask for it...

But I actually kinda like the way the series ended- open, yet hopeful.

I'm a huge fan of the series: both seasons (what can I say, I loved Alec). But here's a bit of goss...did ya'll know Dark Angel was cancelled on a cliffhanger so that the network could afford to make Firefly? Hey, don't get me wrong...I'm thankful Firefly won out, but why can't we have 2 sci-fi shows running at once, especially when they have as little in common as these two did? I'm just not happy

Say no more. Evil's still afoot and I'm almost out of that Nancy-bot hair-gel that I like so much. Quickly to the Angelmobile, away!

Chrisisall, I loved your synopsis on the earlier thread, you wrapped things up well, but tell me, where do you think Lydekker has been hiding since the car crash (I agree with you that he's not dead, but I'm not creative enough to explain his absence!).

First, hiding and healing. Later raiding (supposedly secret) bank accounts of now dead superiors to fund new ops.
He's been carefully avoiding Manticore-friendly government officials, and building up intel and manpower in the form of loyal commandos that have served under him to combat the cult menace.
Yes, in my world, Donald has turned away from the Dark Side, and becomes a force for good (and plays a key roll in saving Max's life... but that's another story...)

The road to Hel is paved with good intentions

I thought I'd jump into the thread considering I'm a fan of all things DA

Having said that - I still haven't read the novels, though I've got all three of them
I also haven't completed the game - only played it once

Enough about that though, I'll give a list of some of my fave episodes - though I must say its been quite a while since I've watched them, so there are probably many I cant remember (and I've had to go to tv.com to remind me of the episode titles)

3 Faves:
Pollo Loco - with Ben, the manticore killer
The Berrisford Agenda - Alec's past comes to the fore
Freak Nation - the action packed end

...

I really need to go back and rewatch them from he beginning because it's really been too long (Which is why I could only pick 3 out - I can't even think of any worst, at the minute at least)

As for Fantastic Four, I quite enjoyed it
I know it had many flaws (I don't think the final fight was that great), but overall it was ver entertaining and genuinely funny.
I liked it even more the second time

Plus, Jessica Alba in her underwear: never a bad thing

Hey, I'm showing my ignorance here, but I've noticed a couple of posts refer to a comet threatening Earth at the end of the second series. I haven't read the books, so I assume this is where it stems from. Am I right, or was I not watching closely enough?

The comet was referred to on the commentary on Freak Nation at the beginning. It was gonna be the climax of the series. The comet, foretold by the cult for centuries, would pass Earth and leave or mutate a virus which would kill most normals, but Max was designed by Sandeman to have the cure in her genetic makeup. Blagh blagh, woof woof, you know the rest...

How many times have you seen Serenity now (You all have the DVD there, right?)? I'm around 30 times myself.

I was on a Dark Angel board the other day, and somebody raised the possibility that the 'terrorists' that set off the Pulse were actually part of White's cult. I could see it.

Huh. Interesting, but it asks the question: to what end?

Destabilize the largest government on the planet? That makes sense, but did the Breeding Cult not anticipate the X5s getting out?

It's possible, now that I think about it. They could've been banking on Lydecker to be more competent at hunting them down than he was.

Hmm. Do we know if Renfrow might have been a cult operative? There's a twist; Sandeman orchestrates Project Manticore to counter the cult, but they manage to place someone highly enough to take it over, which leaves Sandeman trying to break away from his own break away plan.

And if Sandeman had primed one of them (i.e., Max) as the key to the cult's destruction (but the Manticore personnel probably didn't know it, and definitely didn't know who said agent might be. . .

Wait, maybe he instigated the breakout, aiming to get them (and Max in particular) on the run just as the Pulse was happening, knowing that his agent would be able to remain in play.

If she'd remained at Manticore, it's likely they would have eventually discovered her unique genetic setup.

This assumes of course that Sandeman knew the Pulse was coming. . .

Wait, what if it was Sandeman who set off the Pulse?

He puts the ball (Max) in play, then sets off the Pulse to cripple pursuit (crashing the entire continental US as collateral damage because the stakes are so high). He must have known that the cult would take advantage, but was banking on the excaped X5s to be able to evade Lydecker (an unwitting pawn, put in place by Sandeman's hand precisely because Max could outwit him) until his genetic timer pulled Max into action.

Or maybe I've just been reading too many conspiracy theories lately.

Hey Chrisisall! Anything new been going on?
Oh and I'm very pleased with myself - I have managed to watch Serenity around 20 times (since getting it towards the end of February)AND stayed on top of all my work.
But then that's mainly because I've been ill the last couple of days and have also been lending my Firefly boxset out to almost everyone I know in the hopes they'd buy the movie (I think about 5/6 of them have bought either the series, the movie or both afterwards - and a lot of them are obsessed - ah Joss - you did well). And now everyone's heard about it - and are borrowing off other people, and it's all very complicated - but I think we've managed to boost sales. Though Serenity has done pretty well over here (getting to no1!) yay. Although it does mean I've been Fireflyless for almost 3months now. :( Will have to buy a spare boxset.
Sorry - I haven't had a Serenity ramble in a while- back on to DA - I've lent that to several of my friends and they all love it - and a couple have gone out to get the DVD.
I also like the idea that maybe the breeding bult (or even Sandemann) was behind the pulse - although it is a little conspiracy-theoryish - but then again so's the WHOLE idea of transgenics (relatively at least). Anyway - it's definitely plausible (though Im sure SOMEONE will come up with a reason that it's not) so you never know. hmmm. Shall have to ponder some more.
You know I still haven't read the books? I haven't seen them anywhere and without the internet - couldn't order them online. Will have to get round to it.
ANYWAY - it's been fun talking to ya Chris - and I'm glad to see you've kept the DA threads alive.

I used to watch Dark Angel. I was extremely disappointed when it was cancelled. It was getting a bit strange near the end with the dog-man and so on. The premise for the story, however, was very good. Another one of those shows where you can sort of feel like that could be the future. Doesn't do this quite as well as Firefly, but does anything? Ugh, got to hate FOX for cancelling good science fiction shows.
