So what did you all think?

I loved it! We finally learned why the plane crashed and what happens if they didn't put in the numbers.

That last minute with the Russians and Desmond's girlfriend blew my mind. Now someone from off the island may be looking for them, although Henry said once Michael left, he would never be able to find his way back, so maybe it will be hard to find.

I am guessing that Locke and Mr. Eko survived, but I have no inside info on that. I wonder if Michael will feel bad about what he did and come back to try to save Jack, Kate, and Sawyer, or if Michael and Walt are done with the show. They were barely on this season. Sayid must be around somewhere to try and rescue them as well.

I really loved last night's episode.

This stupid show. They answer 2 questions, and then leave me with 95 others. Now I am going to have to keep watching.

Sigh.

i've missed a few eps this season... but i've tried to keep up with the story - don't know all the others my name.... but sometimes it's just so exasperating.... the one episode i thought made a little sense was the one when the whole thing was just in Hurley's mind.... then i missed the next one....

can anybody shed some light on that twist????

Lost is the only season finale that leaves me pissed after watching it.

And of course, we're all left with a million and one questions. The one that keeps boggling my mind is this. What do the Others want with Jack, Kate, and Sawyer. If they were trying to take away the power structure of the survivors, then I could understand that. But if that's what they wanted, then they should have taken Locke and Sayid as well. That being said, my theory is that they were taken because of something in their past. But even that doesn't make complete sense. After all, there are characters that had more ties to the island than those three. And what is it exactly that they needed Walt for? Is it some weird experiment? Or is it because of his apparent supernatural abilities? Who am I? What is the meaning of life?

*sigh*

Must leave. Getting headache.

Deep...don't go... take an Advil and try to slow your pulse.... we can do this... surely we can make some sense of all this....

i've never thought tv writers/producers, et al... were overburdened with an over abundance of brains... well, maybe ole Joss over there, but sometimes, i swear, they're just making this one up as they go...

Locke seem to have gone off his nut... and is possibly Dr. Magneto by now... so many questions...so few boring nights with nothing to bo but watch the idiot box..... i want answers damn it and i want them ... relatively soon... (fat chance)...

fake beard...fake beard... it's a puzzlin situation....

Nine times out of ten, Locke and Eko are still alive. Their characters are too much fun. Then again, I've always said that the actors on Lost have the lowest job security in all of TV land. Oh well. As long as they don't kill off Sawyer, I'm happy.

My impression was that they wanted Walt because he was a kid, and were giving him back because they didn't expect his special abilities. Why they want kids is still a mystery though. And isn't the meaning of life 42?

According to the closed captioning, those guys at that arctic station were speaking Portuguese. It probably doesn't matter at all, but I thought it was interesting, because I would've guessed Russians as well. But hey, maybe the whole thing is a great Portuguese or Brazilian conspiracy. No one would be expecting THAT.

I was wondering one thing, though. At first I thought that Kelvin guy who was in the hatch with Desmond was the same guy as the one with the fake beard. They sound the same, but then when the guy took the beard off, I didn't think they were the same anymore. Does anyone know?

I'm surprised that some people on here are so impatient with Lost. So yeah, they ask more questions than they answer, that's the whole fun of the show! It makes you think! This instant gratification need that TV viewers these days seem to have is getting really annoying, and if one can't handle Lost then one should stick to House or CSI. If you guys read a murder mystery, do you get really frustrated when you're on page 40 and they STILL haven't revealed who the murderer is?

Not the same, one is played by Clancy Brown and one is played by MC Gainey. IMO they also look completely different, but I've heard a couple of people already say they're the same. But they're defintiely not. However, Kelvin was Sayid's commanding officer during the Gulf War (after Sayid was forced to join the Americans as an interrogator/torturer).

I'm still not so sure we know what happened to the plane. When Desmond didn't put in the numbers, the field started throwing some pots and pans around inside the hatch, but all the heavy stuff was still in place (including, significantly, the Commodore 64 or whatever old computer that is). So how could it destroy a plane that was kilometers away? There had to be something else, something that was maybe triggered by the field from the hatch, but not that field itself.

I'll be really surprised if they're dead. Charlie was pretty close to the scene and he survived just fine, why wouldn't the other two? Three if you include Desmond, who was closest to the incident but probably not dead either, otherwise this whole Penny storyline will be pointless. Besides, as you say, they're fun characters, killing them off would come close to killing off the show.

LWAVES

I could only reason that the fake beard were because maybe one of 815's survivors might recognize him and know him from before the crash??

I think the whole end section in the station with the Portugese was to relate the island to the 'real world'. Show that the world hasn't ended, that some people are searching for clues.

My speculations for S3 are:
We will see the Others take Jack, Kate and Sawyer to another location (hatch, compound, underground base or whatever). I think these three will play less of a major role next season.
I think that Charlie, Claire, Sayid, Jin, Sun and maybe Locke and Eko will play a larger role. Some of these characters haven't been utilized much this season.
If there is anything to the whole good/bad, two sides theories then Charlie will be bad. The kiss from Claire, whilst sudden and was kind of too forgiving from her, will be played out more and we may understand why.

The theme of the season will also be different.
S1 had survival after the crash, the monster/black smoke.
S2 had the hatch(es), the Tailes and the Others (but knowing nothing about them).
S3 might show the Others in more detail, there will be the after effects of the light/blast or whatever it was (probably won't be touched until later on).

Who knows for sure.

I'm sorry, I was under the impression that CSI and House (especially) were great shows.

I'm not intending to say that I don't like Lost. You're right in that the questions are part of the fun. It's what keeps you watching the next season. I can handle Lost just fine, thank you, and one doesn't need to be an "instant gratification" junkie to enjoy shows like CSI and House. Smart people actually watch them too.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Okay, some highlights:

- Did anyone notice in Desmond's flashback that it was Libby who gave Desmond the boat for the race? You know, Libby that Michael just killed and who was in the asylum with Hurley.

- Did anyone notice that Libby told Desmond her husband's name was Dave? Remember please that "Dave" was the name of Hurley's imaginary friend in the asylum and who he later saw on the island.

- If they took Kate, Jack & Sawyer because they had "visions" of people or things on the island that could not be there, why let Hurley go when he had visions of Dave running around.

- Why was Echo not taken when he has had a vision of Annalucia?

- What is up with that huge foot of what must have been a huge statue of white stone that Sayid spotted on the coast? Why does it only have four toes???

- "Zeek" was wearing a fake beard to appear to be a castaway to our group. Remember him in the Claire flashback in the medical hatch when he is talking to Ethan about Claire and her baby? Remember how he was clean shaven and in clean clothes. He has to be part of the Dharma Initiative.

- I believe that Echo and Locke are alive as they are both signed up for next season.

- I don't think we will see much of Michael or Walt next season as they are only signed on for a couple of shows each. Might be they return or are recaptured.

- If the "Others" were so eager to get Walt & went to such trouble to get him, how come they just let Michael take him when he betrayed Jack, Sawyer, Hurley and Kate?

- Did anyone else get the impression that "Henry Gale" is really in charge of the "Others"?

Browncoat1,

1. Libby/Elizabeth said her husband's name was David. I did not do the math that it might have been Dave, but I did notice that both Desmond and David start and end in D.

2. Besides Eko, Locke and Charlie have also had visions.

3. Regarding the statue, did you notice there was no debris around the base. The water couldn't be THAT deep, and that would be a LOT of stone.

4. Not sure if Fake Henry is really in charge or not...

5. I've been racking my brains trying to come up with some connection between Jack, Kate, Sawyer, and Hurley. The only thing I can come up with is that these are the people who knew that kate was a fugitive. However, as a nice side effect, if you remove Jack, Kate, and Sawyer from, say, 3-6 episodes, you save a whole bunch of star's salary. They have to be the three highest paid ones.

Did I say they aren't good? What I was saying is that they wrap things up nicely by the end of the episode. Except if it's a two-parter, every episode has a nice beginning, middle and end and the problem is solved. So if somebody can't handle a storyline taking what will probably be 7 seasons to complete, they should stick to shows that have 40-minute storylines instead.

I know. "Only smart peope watch Lost and only stupid people watch CSI and House" isn't remotely close to my point, but if you want it to be my point and then take it as an insult, go ahead.

An entire season is more like a book in a series than 40 pages in a book. And yes, I would get pissed off if I get a big fat "TO BE CONTINUED" at the end of a murder mystery book. Leaving room for another book is one thing, but the answers we got in the finale, especially considering the suggestions in the ads/teasers, were really minor and unsatisfying. On the plus side, I didn't waste time watching most of this season knowing that they were going to draw it out for as long as possible, and was rewarded with a nice 1-hour season summary episode vefore the finale so I think I'll watch all the rest of the seasons like this too.
