some casting highlites:
Michael Rosenbaum (smallville) as Tanis
Kiefer Sutherland as Raistlin
Lucy Lawless as Goldmoon
Michelle Trachtenberg (buffy) as Tika
Phil Lamarr (!) as Riverwind and Gilthanas

Ok, so it's animated, but there's no way it could get the LOTR-sized budget it would need to look decent, so I can live with that.

And can you come up with a cast that would bring in more genre-friendly fans into a series they might not have ever checked out?

You know, when I first read the books, I always pictured Kiefer Sutherland as Tanis . . .

I'm going to lie down now.

That's pretty cool. I would probably share your frustration about actors but this is the first I've heard about the movie. That's cool! Do you know if they're planning on doing all three of the Chronicles or just one big smushed up film of all three at once?

oh, that was a sarcastic question - smallville, xena, buffy, and 24 all have very loyal viewers who will watch these actors even if they've never heard of the books, which I think is great. But even without that, I think the cast would still be good. And I know Phil Lamaar has done some genre voice stuff - I think Green Lantern and some other similar characters.

I mock you with my monkey pants.

"Animated" can cover a lot of possibilities. Any word on what the animation will look like? The companies involved have a pretty wide style range, so I can't really extrapolate a probable look.

I believe, from an interview I read with Lawless, that they just doing the first book, Dragons of Autumn Twilight for now.

MISBEHAVEN

I wish they hadn't gone the animated route, but you're right. Without a large budget, the film could never be made properly. I'm still looking forward to seeing it though. I'm long-time fan of the series, and its writers, Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman, are fellow Browncoats as well. All in all it should be a lot fun.

Morbid and creepifying I got no problem with, so long as you do it quiet like.

I am so excited, I think I may pass out! I have wanted them to make that trilogy into a movie for years! You made my day.....

Now if only some of Margaret Weis' other series would get made into movies.

STARPILOTGRAINGER

I'll probably check it out, although I really can't see MT as Tika, and a couple of the other voices make me a little worried. I'm a bit amused that Lucy Lawless described Goldmoon in an interview as a 'Native American' character, as well. A character can't be Native American in a world without an America.
